Link please. I guarantee you he had AT LEAST one doctor recommend whatever rehab program he adopted.
You look for the link. I dont have the time to research a player I severly dislike. I remember reading in the newspaper that the team doctors asked him to get surgery. It was on the radio too. If you missed it, too bad. You dont have to believe me of course and I doubt you will.

I know I know, Peja sucks too and Dirk and Reggie and Michael Redd and every other great shooter who is not Bruce Bowen on defense or Lebron on offense.
Dirk can drive like a mother at 7 feet. Peja and Reggie can run without the ball. Peja is not on the same level as those guys but both of them are MUCH better than Houston. Especially Reggie and Dirk! Reggie was the best at getting open. You are only comparing their shooting touch not the rest of their games.

EDIT: Michael Redd is a 2nd option. He can also drive the ball and rebound!

You already stated you severly dislike Houston, you don't have to say anymore, you already played your hand. Houston was a very good player, to dispute that I think is stubborness.

He was a good shooter, not a "very good player"! You can even ask the Allan Houston fans if they think he is capable of anchoring an offense. Stephon Marbury is a very good player, Dirk is a very good player, Duncan is a great player, Allan Houston is a decent player with a good jumpshot.

Here's a quote and a couple of links.
Under Callahan's watch, Houston played in even fewer games this season (20) and was given permission to rehab his knee under the guidance of Charles Austin, an Olympic gold medalist in the high jump who doesn't have a degree in sports medicine or any formal training working with basketball players.

Oh, and a more specific article about this subject:

If H20 in his prime was only "decent" I would hate to hear what you have to say about the rest of the current Knicks roster.

Oh yea, I hate to have to say that too! If you think anyone on the Knicks other than Stephon is a very good player, you are being very generous. I think in their prime, Ariza and Crawford have the potential to be very good players though.

So Dr. Callahan had a say in the rehab...that's my point.

"Austin has a history of working miracles. In 1993, he needed major reconstructive knee surgery and was told that his career probably was over. Three years later, he was standing on a podium in Atlanta with a gold medal draped around his neck and listening to the national anthem."

This thread is going nowhere, everyone has already made up their mind.

Ok man, Dr. Callahan said you can rehab with someone "who doesn't have a degree in sports medicine or any formal training working with basketball players." You point is taken. I guess he isnt a waste and can ask for permission from the people that are paying him. Doesnt change the fact that he couldnt rebound, couldnt pass, couldnt defend, couldnt drive etc. Basically, he couldnt do anything other than jumpshoot.

Of course man. I doubt most people a high profile issue like this one lay still without forming an opinion. That doesnt mean fans cannot discuss. You got anything to say about the greatness of Allan Houston, you say it. I guess your mind is made up too which is why you cannot be convinced otherwise.

When you say it like that I'm surprised he was even in the NBA. How do these "one tool" players make the cut? I know a guy down the street who is a great shooter, I'm surprised he hasn't scored a 20 million dollar a year contract.

Come on man. You know its not a personal attack. Think about it though: This guy was unathletic. Was not versatile. He also couldnt dribble or pass very well. Those right there are bad for a guard.

He didnt play defense other than his contract year in 1999 and never rebounded. He could shoot which would've been great for a team with a center and a good PG. He would be the Glen Rice in the Kobe, Shaq triangle. He got 20 mill from Dolan after that 99 playoff run. He guarded Reggie well, and passed to Camby well. I guess Dolan thought he found a franchise player or something.

I just posted the links to show that he did, in fact, rehab with a high jumper. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Houston had one undeniably great moment, IMO, that was "The Shot" against Miami back in '99. Otherwise, he's pretty one-dimensional.

He won't, but Houston was an above average shooting guard.
