TT sucks. I mean what else can there be said about him that has not already been said before? Trading him should be priority #1, as he is bad for team chemistry, bad for team defense, and is just plain bad.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I know what he was referring to. But that's the first and hopefully last time anyone actually begs to KEEP Timmy. I was actually sorta shocked when I read that post...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I wanna keep him... until the dealine. A guy like TT? On his contract year? He will be unstoppable many nights! But again, until the deadline!

Marb, Q, TT, Frye, and James first team
Nate, Crawf, Ariza, Sweetney, Buttler second unit...

If there is another trade this offseason (not likely, IMO) TT will be the one to go.TT and Penny will both be valuable at the deadline, and more teams will be looking to dump big $$ players at that point. However TT still can be productive while penny is pretty much useless.

There are some teams out there (who, I don't know)who might want TT for this coming season to see what they can get out of him, and if he busts, no big deal, it's only for a year, and they shed undesirable contracts at the same time.

Penny, if he's moved at all, will be at the deadline. Even if he is expiring, no one wants a $15mm player basically useless for an entire season.

TT's from Paterson, NJ...land of the fugazies.

That's why any one of those deals could go down sooner rather than later. Timmy still has some player value. If he plays relatively well in the beginning of next season, it fares well for us. He won't be just an expiring contract. He could easily play 6th man for many teams, including Pheonix, who badly needs depth...

no offense, but tell me again why these are likely scenarios? I dont see how or why any of these are realistic

B/c Isiah has actually admitted recently that he will have to go after a bigtime player sometime in the future. All bigtime players are maxed out in the first place, which makes Timmy useful in a trade. Most teams look for cap space, young talent, and draft picks when they trade a star player. We'll be able to offer all 3. With Larry Brown in town for the next few years, we don't have much of a choice but to make a trade like the 3 scenarios above. There are no other star players I see being available for that price range (around Timmy's salary). With the Clippers, there's ALWAYS the chance they will try and cut salary. Pierce is reported to be on the block. And the Suns might try and match JJ and deal Marion.

Any other questions?
yes.. if the Suns want to move Marion they can do a lot better than ANY of the trades you mentioned and probably by alot. Same with Bos or LAC. I guess ISiah will get these players on... good looks and charm?

What team can offer a better package of picks, cap space, and young talent?

Maybe the Mavs, but they already have Josh Howard starting at SF, so getting Marion would be pointless.

look around at recent deals and trades. I hardly consider Sweetney great young talent right now. I think most teams see him as a nice bench player but thats about it. TT is a loafer and is only good for $$$. Elton Brand and Pierce are stars on their team and elite players. A bench/role player and expiring deal arent getting them, they just arent. Its nice that Isiah is talking about adding a bigtime player but those guys just arent realistic... not for the package your talking about.

How about
Ariza + Crawford + TT + 2006 #1 (ours) + $3mm for Elton Brand
That leaves you with some balancing but you have an all star caliber frontcourt player to build your team around.

Ariza + TT + 2006 #1 for Marion is solid as well, but I think thats more a deadline deal.

Another thing is why do those teams have to trade Pierce, Brand or Marion now? Because we want them? You want a player like that you better be willing to make a very attractive offer to them. I not impressed by Tim Thomas and Mike Sweetney, pick or no pick

Any deal involving Marion or Brand would most likely come before the trading deadline.

Is Sweetney, TT, and an uprotected 1st enough? Maybe not. But I might consider something like Hunter, Marion for Ariza, Sweetney, Timmy, Fut. 1st fair.

Point is...it can be done.

^....ya. But is Larry Brown -- that's where Isiah and Brown might butt heads.

Larry goes with veterans. It's either Ariza or TT at SF, which means it would be TT. I suppose he could start Q at SF. If we could get Brand and Nate plays very well, my ultimate plan might be to have Nate, Marbury, Q, and Brand starting 1 to 4 with JJ and Frye splitting time at C. That lineup coached by Brown could be excellent. I'm not sure we'd have both Nate and Frye left over after a TT/Brand trade, though.

If you're including Ariza in any deal for Marion or Brand, our rookies are going NOWHERE...

thats what i'm thinking. these are allstar players, no way do they go for basically capspace. i doubt other teams give sweets much value as he has yet to prove he can even start or last 30minutes a game. either it'll take more than 1 1st round pick, or other young talent along with sweets.

look at the kind of 3s Larry has been comfortable. They have all been lunch pail blue collar types. Antonio Davis, Derrick McKey, Kenny Thomas, Prince. He like tough rebounders that play D there. I cant see TT getting much breathing round in a Larry Brown rotation. I would even bet Rose and JYD would be ahead of TT on the depth chart for minutes at the 3.
