offering him 50-60 mm is fiscal insanity. according to joe dumars he is no-where near healthy and the last thing we need is constant disruptions with the coach leaving the team.

I say it's better to bring him on as a consultant for one year at 2mm, make sure his health is in order and then offer him a 3 yr 22m$

just throwing 50-60mm$ at this guy blindly is , well crazy

I'm shocked at how many folks don't care Briggs. I would think though you're being a bit extreme.

I'm somewhere in between.

Larry aint going to coach the Knicks for five years. We'll be lucky if we can get two! Sh!t, we might not get one!

So, if the deal is to bring LB in for two years and have he move up into the front office, great.

If we're going to have LB lay someone kind of foundation for future success, great.

But I'm willing to bet money that we don't really go anywhere with Larry as a coach- the roster ain't there, don't matter who's driving.

Yes, we're going to find out is Marbury a star or diva numbers player.

We're going to find out can Crawford and Q learn to play defense.

In five years, with some serious talent upgrade, we might be in a position to make a championship run, but that effort would be better served by parking in the lotto for the next four years.

It's how you run a business. You don't compete against yourself. There is no competition for Larry, so why overpay in $ and years? Just to say you did? Just to pass the buck along to the fans? Didnt enough fans have problems losing MSGthis year? No one will pay more than us, so I see 3 years and 22mm$[not including the 5mm$ he pocketed as more than fair compensation}

if he s 48 and healthy, OK. Hes going to be 65 and far from healthy, so why run up a huge bill like that? He was getting paid 5 mm from the pistons--now he needs to get paid 11-12 mm from the knicks

next time people dont have msg, or cant afford tickets, dont complain

No coach except Phil should make more than Popovich--whatever pops makes, that should be the top of the market.

everything has reasonable limits

yea seriously who cares how much money we throw at him. It isnt our money and it doesnt count against the cap so who gives a ****

Agreed, the amount of money doesn't concern me since its just a matter of Dolan dropping more of Daddy's money. But it will be interesting to see LB making twice as much as Isiah. Will his massive ego be able to handle that?
I don't think Isiah takes his own salary into consideration when hiring or signing individuals. He had no problem giving Jamal a contract that pays him about 8 times what he makes. (I think it's 56 mil vs. 7 mil.) JJ gets about 4 times what Isiah gets. Maybe you can think of a reason why he would have a different standard with regard to players vs. coaches but I think it would be a stretch.

As long as we get Larry Brown here coaching the Knicks, I don't care how much he gets, who's ego is whatever, etc.

Go and get us our Coach, Messiah Thomas. Ride Dolan's checkbook 'till the damn wheels fall off.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

and when MSG gets into another contractual dispute and hundreds of thousands of people dont view MSG OR the Knicks, we can always look back to overpaying anyone and everyone and every turn. 3 years 22mm

You have to treat him with respect. This isn't a coach coming out of college. His resume speaks for itself. He should be paid at or slightly below phil. Maybe he only lasts 2 yrs here, but what if this is a place he decides to end it with and he lasts 5 yrs here.Imagine how nice that will be. You don't lowball him trying to save some bucks. Thats bad buisness. If he wants to coach this year you let him . You don't stick him in as consulting. Even if he gets ill and misses games its far superior and better for the future of the knicks for him to coach this year vs. herb. This is our chance to get someone great, don't mess it up.

fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Well if Larry Brown will agree to your 3yr/22M deal, cool.

BUT, if (and IMO more than likely) he wants more- I'd have no problem reading about the 5ys/60M deal that got him here.

Amen. This guy is a winner, i cant believe i am hearing people moan and complain about the money the knicks are offering him. ITS DOLANS MONEY. Let him spend! If your worried about not being able to see MSG this season, SWITCH TO SATELLITE. But at any rate get Brown he is not going to make the team worse. The team can only get better with him at the helm.

I have come to understand with some of you people that no matter what Zeke does it will be wrong ! Everyone has ask for LB's presence in NY, but now you people come up with another excuse to bad mouth Zeke & the knicks ! This is unbelievable, is it because you want attention on this forum that the negative crap is spit like rain drops in the spring ? Having an opinion is crucial to a successful forum dialogue, but to be assannine in some of these statements is plain crazy. You want LB, now its crazy to get LB unless we can get him cheap ! WOW ! Well the new kid on the block has spoken, lol, I don't mean to offend anyone but i'm just scratching my head trying to understand the logic of some of you guys.

The next thing we will see on this forum is how Zeke killed the franchise by signing LB to all that money and how Zeke set the development of the young players back because he signed LB who doesn't play young guys ! I love ULTIMATEKNICKS.COM but maybe the new name should be " ALL MY CHILDREN " ! lol.....

Don't apologize for telling it like it is, Ongbok. Just keep on stating your opinion, and not worry about anyone's pessimism. Those cats will be eating crow sandwiches soon enough. Make sure you're there to put their feet in their mouths for them.
