Who the hell was on board with trading Camby for a guy coming off knee surgery. I broke my car radio when I heard WFAN report it. I wanted Butler or Amare. That idiot Layden was so focused on Yao I don't even think he bother to scout anyone else.

Yeah, the Camby part is pretty much accurate. Duke just lived on the IR...Its crazy to say now, but people were ecstatic to get rid of him. Funny how as soon as he dips he becomes the model of health and consistency.

I think the consensus pick was Caron Butler, who was looked upon as a possible #1. It was a pretty weak draft. Looking back we should not, under any circumstances, have included a number one pick for a guy coming off of major knee surgery. Just ridiculous and helped to start a trend that would have this franchise sputtering for pretty much the whole decade.

to be fair, Bip only said "style of play" in regards to Nene & McKnee... turns out he was right, they both ended up being "IR" style players.
