Dude! you and I both. But with WestPhal as his main assistant, I don't know....I want Brown or Laimbeer.

I'll be excited as long as Herb Williams isn't the coach.

Paul Westphal and Herb Williams is the worst thing that can happen. We need a tough, experienced, winning disciplinarian to develope this young team. What are they going to learn from 2 soft offensive minded coaches who cannot teach defense? We don't need an offensive coaches!

When did Herb become an offensive guru? I thought he is a defense guy who didn't have the luxury to change the defensive mind set of a team in the middle of last season.

Actually, Herb Williams isn't a guru at either end, he just sucks. Our defense got FARRR worse with him.

Do you have any evidence to back that up? I doubt there was much of a change.
And the reply is...a post that makes sense (still waiting)

We allowed 104 ppg with Herb Williams. I'm at work so I don't have the exact number but I think we allowed somewhere between 97-99 ppg with Lenny Wilkens. Allowing 104 ppg is disgraceful.

dido's kool aid is SPIKED!!!

I'm on the same stuf he is. I'm crazy excited about next year.

Right now the pieces are in place. If anything when training camp starts it will be the most compeditive it has been in recient memory. Alot of hungry guys are around. Even the trainers!

Isiah still isn't done. Jerome James might be signed and traded instead of the mid-level signing that was initially reported. That would be the right thing to do.

The blockbuster deal hasn't been made yet. I think Isiah still has one big boom before the season starts.

How can you no be excited?

Two things-- Herb operated without a center because of the Nazr trade. And ppg allowed isn't a good proxy for defense. Try to look for fg% allowed, or better yet, points per possession allowed. Not that I'm a huge Herb fan, but let's at least judge him fairly.

If I remember correctly we gave up high field goal percentages on regular basis under both Lenny and Herb.

So no matter how you look at it, Herb is a bad defensive coach. At leat from what we have seen so far. Can he turn it around with a full training camp? I don't care. I want an experienced coach. Why Saunders not even being considered?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
