I think Zeke is going to sit on his pawns until the trading deadline and is going to sign

Walker for the MLE and Steven Hunter for a portion of the trade exception (worth $4.9M) (see below)

If both are willing to do this, I'm fine with that.

Mark Bartelstein, the agent for Antoine Walker, would not completely rule out his client accepting the midlevel exception from the Knicks, a rule that would allow the Knicks to spend about $5 million on the free-agent forward despite being over the cap. But Bartelstein made it clear Walker expects more money, which would necessitate a complicated sign-and-trade deal with the Celtics.

• Whether center Steven Hunter winds up with the Knicks, the Jazz or elsewhere, it looks like $2.5 million is the magic number — about $800,000 more than the veteran exception slot the Suns have to offer.

as of right now, i'm fine with picking up hunter, since we have no center. but as far as walker goes, all he is going to do is stunt the growth of our young players.

For $2.5, he's worth it. That's less than 1/2 of what Gadzooks! just signed for. Way the NBA is now, anyone in the rotation is worth $2.5, and Hunter would definitely be in our rotation.

Trade exception? We don't have a trade exception.

I'd sign Hunter for 2.6 million for 4 years. He's got hands of stone, but its ridiculous to say he has no skills - unless people think rebounding, shotblocking and defense aren't skills.

btw, anyone catch Green's dunk the other day in summer league? i said before he'd be the best player to come out of this draft in the long run...this video clip is just sick:

http://www.nba.com/media/celtics/green_dunk_320.mpg

KEEP HUNTER OUT OF NY!
Well that settles it, he is the best player to come out of the draft, he dunked on Bruno Sundov's cousin!

That dunk was pretty sick though.

just watch this kid torch the Knicks for the next 10 years in a Boston uniform...you'll be crying why Isiah didn't pick him over Frye in a couple years.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

He's not really an exceptional rebounder for a guy his size. He averaged 3 boards per game in around 15 mins. That's not even 10 rebounds per 40 mins. And good shotblocking doesn't make him a great defender. From what I've seen his one on one post D still needs some help...

...that's what you get for 2.5 M
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I think it's odd that no extra big has been more or less locke up. I think they're working on something big.

Well I never said I have a problem with getting him for 2.5 mil, but I'm vary wary of overpaying this guy, and I think we'd need to add at least another big if we could him. I'd much rather use part of the MLE to make an offer to Pachulia who I feel is a better player now and going forward. If Zeke can lock up Hunter for 3 years 7.5 mil though I wouldnt be upset.
