This trade would be all about getting Lebron and Larry Brown to New York. It would be bizarre, but it almost seems like it needs to happen at this point. If this trade doesn't happen now, I think something very similar will happen in February near the trade deadline.

good point.

I need to find out more about the trade to comment though... I want Josh Smith or Childress in the deal.

Since Atlanta is way under the cap, we may get trade exception. That would be sweet.

Dump Allan, TT and penny off soon, Dump Marbs: WOW!

Lebron! He can renegotiate his nike deal also.

It ain't always about the money. ITs about Being huge in Akron Ohio and needed room to breath. The stage in NYC is big!

ANd don't forget, the nets loom large and moving to brooklyn.

Dolan better get this one right or he loses the team forever.

Concede the next two yeras to the nets!

But bringing in Larry makes no sense if you have a 3-4 year goal.

I will stop being a knick fan. We will suck longer, next years draft will suck and what if Lebron doesn't come, guess what? WE STILL FUCKING SUCK!!

Its stupid, Chad Ford is stupid, and so is everyone else who thinks this deal makes sense.

If Eddy Curry can be had, he should be in a knick uniform and not an Atlanta uniform. He would balance our roster of young'ns.

I'm sure Phoenix would've loved to get Shaq but they got Nash and that worked out pretty well! there will always be guys. if not lebron, wade, bosh then there will be others the following year like Okafor

That Hawk trade would be TERRIBLE. We wouldn't be bringing in Harrington for his expiring contract. Isiah loves him and would keep him. Plus, this creates a God Awful even worse logjam at the guard position with Delk and Lue, who are worthy of minutes. No thanks to that trade. Marbury is better than Harrington anyway. I don't see what Zeke likes in that trade
I couldn't have said it better.

It sounds like he's really trying to piss off Isiah

Once again, back to my original point. If Larry Brown is attainable you DON'T trade Marbury. Why? B/c he's our best player and with Larry in the picture, the only goal we'd have is the playoffs.

A brief rebuilding period is appropriate if Larry isn't available...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

If ATL adds their 1st round pick in '06, & the cap space afforded from that deal gives the Knicks a realistic shot at signing Lebron in '07, i'm 100% behind that idea.

I would be down with that.

Why would we go after Eddy Curry when he offers nothing that we need - interior D and shotblocking?

He may have just been going with the BPA philosophy. It's not like that was our only pick. He got a guard, a forward, and a center in the first round. (Or as someone else put it, he addressed all our needs by getting a big man, a small guy, and a white guy! I still laugh at that line!)

If the Knicks are seriously considering getting under the cap, then I could understand that move. But I see no evidence that they are going in that rebuilding direction. It looks like their direction is to get young, tough, athletic players via the draft and via trades with no regard for how much Dolan has to pay the players.

Unlike you, I take Isiah at his word. He has said the Knicks are rebuilding. IMO, there is no other way to end the "1973" chants.

Thats the funniest goddamm thing Ihave read all day! They are not Gay Robots!

Isiah would be smart to at least explore the depths he can go in rebuilding. I am not saying this is a good trade, but If you can shed 22mil, allans 20 mil, pennys 18 mil, and TT's 14, thats
SEVENTY FOUR MILLION DOLLARS!

Build a young team, have cap room, thats a recipe for greatness!

UGH! More Chad Ford nonsense, I feel so bad for Steph, he just never gets a chance to play with a good big man. I know he had his shot with KG but they were both young and immature and I guarentee you if you asked him if he would do it over he would. I guess this deal works pretty well for the Knicks, they get all expiring contracts in return and with all the expiring contracts they have in the coming 2 years they would have more then enough money to throw at Lebron.

I guess it would probably be best for the franchise except I still would much rather the Knicks trade expiring contracts for a big man to play WITH stephon instead of playing against him.

yeah, bottom line, if the Knicks did this Atlanta deal, they would be $16 million under the cap for NEXT SEASON. That's huge. If they were patient, they'd have max cap room for Lebron when he was unrestricted.

I don't think this trade happens this summer, but I would not be surprised if it happened in February.

good point. especially since our record won't be very good. the media won't kill Isiah as much for trading Marbury then. I brought up this trade with Atlanta last week and was crucified for wanting to trade Marbury for the huge cap space lol

Obviously he makes more money then we all do but he is going to be villafied once he is traded away from the Knicks and guy is from NY, lives in NY and LOVES NY. He will be villafied in his own hometown... for nothing that is his fault. I feel kinda bad, sometimes you have to look past the money, its not like he's a robot.
