I really think Kwame can turn into a stud and I also believe that Nate is talented enough to be more than a 15 mpg player from what I've seen. However, Richardson straight up for Kwame is ridiculous from our standpoint. When someone gets kicked off a playoff team then you know the franchise doesn't value him that much. Now, with the recent departure of Hughes I realize that Brown is all of a sudden more valuable to the Wizards, but giving up Q for Kwame is just too much overpaying right now even though Kwame might turn into a monster. If they give us a first round pick in return, I would consider it and I would even do the deal that BRIGGS proposed earlier in this thread. No way in hell I trade Richardson straight up for Kwame though.

I agree and when you look at the value of good swingmen right now, we would be getting the short end of that deal. Q and craw right now have value, especially when guys like Redd and Hughes are getting near max deals, there is no way I am going to be convinced that both redd and Hughes are that much better than Q and Craw if better at all. All of these guys have strengths and weaknesses, all are young players, right now we have two really good Swingmen, If one of them moves, I want a lot back, that is what the market is dictating right

Thats what i said, Q for Kwame a 2007 #1 pick and Blatche, sign Eddie Basden to a minimum 2 yr contract waive Houston and then sit tight with the MLE--we have a lot of options there, but we are for all intensive purposes, are looking at pure disaster without another big. I think the emergence of Nate gives us this opporuntunity. Heck even Ariza can play some 2G. IMO, lets get the BIG--lets get a good deal for him, where we pay ONLY what we actually pay LESS than what Qs contact has--something like 3 yeasr with a 4th years option for 30mm

and lets go

Blatche is playing too well right now for them to give him up like that. They would problably send him to Phoenix for joe johnson

Lol. This summer is like Russian Roulette. You got your Jerome James, Kwame Brown, Antoine Walker, and Stro Swift. And whoever we randomly get, (and at this point, it is random), they could easily be a huge bust. James is 29! Yes, 20-****in-9. Stro, we simply can't get. Kwame's asking price is far too much, and how do we know he's gonna be anything more than a 12 and 7 the rest of his career?
Antoine Walker is almost 30, and doesn't provide shot blocking or defense. Wonderful choices.

I'm trying to stay optimistic and all, but it's hard when you look at the scraps we're left with. There will be no Dalembert, or Gadzuric, or anyone really worthy of the $$$. Gadz will re-up with Milwaukee, b/c even with Bogut, theyre gonna need him to win. And Dalembert -- well, lemme put it this way: We have a .001 % chance of getting him.

I agree its sad what we've been and how much we've lowered our expectations since Ewing, Camby & spree left. Kwame is the only guy who we can afford who can actually make a difference with a change of scenery, a good bigman coach like Aguirre and an offense that makes him the focus so that he gives 100% offensively and defensively. Anyone else, Gadz, Hunter, forget about getting Dalembert(its happenin and we'll still need a player who plays inside like Brand not Frye), forget about Hunter, Booth, James, NONE of these guys will make a difference. We need to trade Marbury and acquire our Elton Brand, Jermaine O'neal, Duncsn, Lebron through the draft and free agency so that we can be good. Kwame is the only guy who's shown flashes of being that kind of player and since we're not trading Marbury, he's the best we can do!

Look, Kwame is not KG nor O'Neal, and most of all, will never be neither of those two. Kwame is not worth all of the commotions I am hearing about. Why Q? just doesn't make sense. Let them trade Kwame to Atlanta....

I think people are rally over rating Q right now. I would not swap Crawford for Q, I think Crawford is the better player. We watched Craw get the opportunity to play 1 the last 10 games and shifted back and forth and look how his numbers went through the roof.

i mean do you think Q is some kind of MJ? Why was Pheonix so willing to dump his arse in addition to a nice pick?

we will have our own probelms with 4 guards. What we need to do is knock that down to three and bring in a Badsen as a defensive specialist on the cheap. He brings a different dimension to the position and there wont be a struggle for PT. I think in general--you have 3 shooters Craw Stra and Nate a slasher who can play 2-3 in Ariza and a defensive specialist who can also rebound and score, and gives the Knicks a physical defender in the backourt. I think thats a well rounded athletic group to build on?

Briggs ask yourself this. who do you see running the point for the Knicks realistically. Its Marbury & Nate. That leave Crawford and all 6-5 180LB 39% shooting, getting abused on defense at SG. If we didn't have Nate I would problably only be offering Sweetney for Kwame but we have way too many combo guards and not enough minutes. Q has a meanstreak and he can do more than just shoot 3's.
He said it himself, he prefers playing inside and outside. You are looking too into his numbers in Phoenix and disregarding the rest of his career. And he's only 25 and getting better just like Crawford. He's got a much better body than Crawford

You say "who do you expect to run the point?" my answer would be, to be quite honest, Crawford and Nate. There are several several reasons why Marbury should be dealt, but in this case, it would be b/c Marbury has never shown an ability or desire to push the ball up the floor. The team flows more smoothly and responds better to Crawford, not Marbury.

If it was up to me, I'd find a way to deal Steph. And if you're wondering why, just ask me. I'll run it down for you point by point, from roster space to cap space...

Oh I agree. I think Crawford is best at point guard and he will be a good after 2-3yrs but we are not trading Marbury eventhough it would obviously be best for our future. Dolan wants Marbury because they sold the idea that he is a superstar to the fans. If they trade him the fans won't fill the Garden

I don't think the problem would be fan attendance. It comes down, quite simply, to Jimmy Dolan be a massive moron that doesn't know how to swallow his pride.

Not sure what kind of leash he has Isiah on, if one at all, but Zeke really needs to open his damn eyes and trade this guy before it's too late -- cap space, roster space, youth, hope......these are all things you gain by trading him.

he did push the ball. That is until he severely injured both ankles. Trust me it takes its toll on your quickness and hops which explains the reason he can't dunk anymore either. I hurt both ankles too so trust me

i don't doubt that for one second. truth is, I never watched Marbury all that much before he hit NJ. And even then, I hated the Nets, so I wasn't waiting with baited breath to watch them all that much...

wat's important though, is that you basically proved my point. He used to BE ABLE to push the ball, although he didn't do so consistently, but now, with his knees being as bad as they are, and his ankle injuries, he isn't able to do whether he'd like to or not.

Just another reason why Marbury should be traded....among others like cap space, roster space, youth, run-and fun ability, and hope for the future...

excellent point bobs but remember this, Marbury is still the best player on our team. He is also the best PG on our team. We need quality back for Marbury.

yeah I've been saying the samethings since The Nets embarassed us in the playoffs. But we're in the minority here man as I am most of the time but I'm used to it. Thats what happens when you separate being a fan from realism. Especially after so many years of mediocrity and after realizing this plan isn't working and its time to truly rebuild.

in today's NBA, you trade talent for cap space and picks. Example - Baron Davis. Example - Vince Carter. At this point, if we're lucky enough to even find a suitor, the best we could get is Harrington and a pick. I'd sign up for that, and then find a way to trade 1-2 of our PF's. In one summer, we could basically ensure a normalized cap situation in only 2 years. And if anyone should get waived, it would be Malik Rose, only b/c of his longterm salary...

Again, do I think Steph WILL get traded - probably not. Do I think he SHOULD be - not a doubt in my mind.

Just b/c it would be hard to let him go - a fan favorite, a guy that never took a night off, our best player.......it's a move you have to make for the future of this franchise.

Realism isn't rebuilding a team in 2 years. It takes a long time and you don't just acquire championship calibur players like Elton Brand becuase teams just don't trade them!!! Think about this, trading Marbury is going to get the Knicks what in return? It's certainly not going to get a "championship calibur" player back becuase teams are NOT going to trade those guys for stephon Marbury and we all know that the Knicks are not going to go out there have 20 win seasons because the owner doesnt want it. It takes time, drafting and a good general manager to get to the promised land and so far I see all 3 going right for the Knicks.

simple deduction, I would offer them a deal of Q for Kwame and a 2007 # 1 pick. I think the emergence of Nate and a smart move by picking up Eddie Badsen as a defensive 2G specialist for nothing and having the ability to drop ariza back to 2 gives us a mice young well rounded back court.

Brown still offers to much upside which we have a need for to poo poo.
throw in the one, you are not increasing payroll, Q is NOt the second coming--a SMARTER organization than us went out of their way to dump him, i hope we do this deal.

thats not my plan. My plan isn't to trade Marbury and get a franchise calibur player back. The plan is to trade Marbury for young players adnd draft picks. And lose for 2-3yrs(which we're going to do with or without Marbury) but stock pile HIGH draft picks and land the next Jermaine, Brand, Duncan, Lebron and in the meantime have the cap flexibility to add championship calibur players like Garnett, Brand, Shaq, Lebron & Wade to a great young core.

Now continue having Marbury as your franchise player til 2009 snd you will never expect mediocrity. Mediocrity as in 30-40win seasons, 1st/2nd round playoff exits, no high draft picks, no cap space and keep hoping for Dan Gadzuric and Jerome James

he did push the ball.

Just another reason why Marbury should be traded....among others like cap space, roster space, youth, run-and fun ability, and hope for the future...

yeah I've been saying the samethings since The Nets embarassed us in the playoffs. But we're in the minority here man as I am most of the time but I'm used to it. Thats what happens when you separate being a fan from realism. Especially after so many years of mediocrity and after realizing this plan isn't working and its time to truly rebuild.

Realism isn't rebuilding a team in 2 years. It takes a long time and you don't just acquire championship calibur players like Elton Brand becuase teams just don't trade them!!! Think about this, trading Marbury is going to get the Knicks what in return? It's certainly not going to get a "championship calibur" player back becuase teams are NOT going to trade those guys for stephon Marbury. It takes time, drafting and a good general manager to get to the promised land and so far I see all 3 going right for the Knicks.

thats not my plan.

When you fans learn that James Dolan does not WANT LOSING SEASONS. IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WAY!!!! btw.... check your IMs.
