Your 05/06 knicks...

Marbs/Crawford/Nate
Q/Crawford/Ariza
TT/Q/Ariza (possibly Ariza number 2)
Sweetney/Rose/MoT
Frye/Butler/JYD

Learn it...love it.

Most possible 'acceptable' trades, even if they won't happen:
Penny and Rose to memphis for Gasol
MoT and TT to Philly for Dalembart

Then we win it all.

I disagree...
Marb/Crawf/Nate
Q/Crawfford/Ariza
TT until midseason/Ariza/Q
Frye/Mo T/Butler
Hunter or GAdz/Frye/Butler

Isiah is working too hard not to bring in a big man to start. I just hope that the big man he picks will not be Kwame or Dampier or Walker.

I look at it this way, Isiah is GM, he should be given latitude on this last change of course. I dont agree with pick 8, but I agree with what he has been trying to do. I am going to give him the space to do what he wants for the next two years. The big red flags to me are any aqcuistion of A Walker OR Frye performing in a medicore fashion. If he wants to get rid of steph or pick up Kwame, he has my vote.
I agree... which is why Vin Baker and Mo Taylor had me scratching my head.

I really wouldn't sleep on MoT...he was out of shape last year, but before he went on the IR, he was contributing...once he gets back in shape (which better be this summer) he's a force to reckon with...he's had a handful of PRODUCTIVE games when given the opportunity...even when he was fat.

Him and Rose are the Yin and Yan we need.

I would go with Hollinger's assesment of the trade over some halfarsed fan who thinks that one player is better to have since he has more "potential" after 5 years in the league, due, not even to glismpses of any kind of skill, but to some player being taller.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

What I want to know is who is incharge of making sure that our boys are progressing like they are supposed to???? I read earlier that Ariza added 10 lbs of muscles, but what about those who are out of shape or overweight (Mo T, Sweet, Butler)????

There are variables that are not being considered. Number 1, ANYONE who watched Kwame Brown in 2003, especially late, when he had games of 30 points 20 rebounds against the Kings I believe and a few other really huge type games, belived that LAST year was Kwame's coming out party and then he got hurt before the season started and never recovered. Any smart GM would start by going back over the tapes of his 2003 games and look into his backround as a person and his injury.
I like Mike Sweetney[who also has risk variables including his weight]
But IF Kwame is 100% recovered, I still believe Kwame is the better player for what Isiah is trying to do. He showed against KT late in this year a glimpse of the ending 2003 year, when he went 8-8 in the Garden. He is 7-0 260 and he can move to 4-5 while Sweetney is pure 4, a place where I believe they want Frye to play.

Briggs!! I know that you know talents and I admire that about you. However, there is one thing that you are overlooking is the kid's desire and love for the game of basketball. We need a gym brat, a guy that goes out and leave it on the court every night, a guy that will not be affraid to fail, a guy that will challenge every shots and dive on the court for every loose balls. Kwame is not that type....He is a younger TT (full of talents but no heart nor desire)

how about being in charge of YOURSELF & making sure that you're working hard in the offseason & earning those millions you're being paid to play this game at the best of your ability? is it too much to ask these guys to get in the gym & work out when their entire livelihood is based on their physical abilities?

I feel that we'll keep screaming potential for years with Kwame Brown the way we do with Tim Thomas. Tim Thomas was 27 and had done crap in the NBA for 7 seasons before he got here and there were people here still talking about his potential. Why can't the mentality of guys like Kwame or Tim Thomas be as much a restrictive factor on "potential," as Sweetney's height. Obviously there is no human way to change height, but man its really difficult to change someone's mentality when they simply do not care about getting better.

Luckily, even though Kwame hasn't shown the signs of taking it to the next level after 4 seasons, he is still only 23, so we're still talking about on ok gamble because of his size. But I wouldn't give up a player for him who is the same age and better. Chances are that player will stay better.

if Kwame's a bust, what do you call Sweetney? Sweetney & Kwame have very similar statlines...the difference is that Kwame is about 5 inches taller & about 5 times more athletic, while Sweetney displays more effort while he's on the floor...both are similar age...& don't give me the fact that Kwame's been in the league a whole 2 years more than Sweetney has...learning how to play NBA basketball out of HS isn't an easy transition...at least Sweetney had a couple years of Division 1 NCAA seasoning under his belt before he got here...his learning curve should have been alot less than Kwame's.

the Knicks need a solution at the C position, they have PF's on the roster to fill Sweetney's minutes...if Isiah takes a flyer on Kwame i am in full support w/his decision.

In life you take calculated risks. Those are the people you tend to find ahead in life, nothing wrong with working hard and playing it safe, but going for it can reap big rewards. I like the risk reward ratio here, IF thats even a trade that WASH would do.

Sweetney has also gotten fewer minutes and has played 2 less seasons. Kwame has had 3 seasons where he has logged over 20 mpg, one where he averaged over 30 mpg, and in his career has over 80 games of starting experience. Sweetney by contrast, has never averaged 20 mpg. He barely got a chance to play in his rookie year, playing only 42 games and averaging 11.8 mins. Last year he did get a chance to start 27 games but still only averaged 19.6 mins. Gotta give Sweetney one full chance at starting 50+ games and averaging 30 mpg like Kwame got before calling him a bust.
