Frye is going to be excellent. Big fundamentals guy in the wrong system in college. Blew away everyone at his workout. Gets the game. Bynum's most impressive talent is gaining weight. If they Lakers are lucky they're have Stanley Roberts 2.

The way you like what he had to say about both the Mets and Yanks.

I admit I don't think Frye is going to be dominant off the bat but you know, I really don't understand why people think you need to take somebody right out of high school with loads of potential or an "obvious" star straight out of College to get someone who is/will be/ awesome. Many players develop later than others. I'm hoping Isiah saw something in Frye that others missed. And something on our side is that Frye played a team game and wasn't really able to show what he had (except for the not so good rebounding eehe). Really looking forward to watching these young guys play.
Man, there will be lots of "we should" have's with this draft... just so deep.

If Frye isnt what they thought he would be OUT OF THE BOX, you are running into scary territory. I said on MSG drafting Frye was amistake at 8 and it would become apparnet quickly. I think he has a good chance of being outplayed by Lee and Butler. You can look at all the tape you want, but By God the RED flags were there.

exactly that's the whole reason behind taking Frye so high at 8. He better come right out of the box averaging 12/8/1.5 as a rookie. Because 2-3yrs down the road guys like Green, Granger and Graham will be averaging between 17-23pts, 6-9rebs, 5asts with great perimeter D and most importantly clutch shots down the stretch!

one thing is for sure, wehn Bogut gets 1-1 coveragein the SL and starts to score at will in the box, the guys who said Bogut is inferior to Frye will shut up.

I think Lupica is a jerk, so I'm not going to buy what he says just because I want to think he is right.

The only thing that matters to me is that we have a TEAM, and that the team starts winning. I don't care if he scores 40 pts, 30 rbs or only 15 and 9, I just hope that he is part of a team that starts winning and building a playoff run...

I think Channing can give us as much as 16pts, 9rebs, 1.7blocks by year 2 or 3 but it still won't be enough if he's our best frontcourt player. Heck Sweetney can give us that

Those are KT numbers rught there. As much as people were crying about us trading KT, if Frye were able to put up those numbers, we will all be happy. I'm going as far as saying that frye will put up Nazr numbers...this season.

here's my take on frye:

if he's a franchise center, there's no way he drops to 8 - no way in hell. he's not even mentioned top 5. that's a RED FLAG to those that think this guy is going to be the man in the middle.

that DOESN'T MEAN he won't be a really solid player there.

is there anything wrong with drafting a solid player at #8 - nope.
is there anything wrong for going after a high risk/high reward player at #8 - nope.

draft frye - don't draft frye - there are valid arguments on both sides.

all i can do is go by isiah's apparent skill of evaluating players for the draft.

maybe isiah's envisions a system of smart, solid players that play hard and not mentally inept and that's what he saw in frye, nate, and lee AND didn't see in bynum, granger, taft.

frye's ours now and there's no point in crying over spilled milk, unless it's mo taylor.

I'm not going to bother listing all of the really great players that got drafted at 8 or lower.

There's lots of them.

I think Frye will be fine. I dont think he touches Bogut and I wouldve picked Bynum or Green ahead of him. I would also put Granger's name in there, but ultimately it wouldve been Bynum or Green.

In life, you have people who don't know anything about what they're talking about but seem to live and die on the words of someone else,
then you have the people who seem to think they know everything and won't listen to nothing anyone else says,

and then you have people like me---a pimp, to put it all together.

First of all, lets talk about past surefire franchise centers picked #1, like.... Olowakandi. Or maybe lets talk about Ben Wallace, a franchise center even at his height and size because of his big play and great importance to its franchise. Some may not agree he is, but the Pistons aren't the Pistons without him, and there are many teams that would love to be like the Pistons.

Its really difficult to predict these player's careers. You can't really say that Frye won't be a franchise center in the future because of where he was picked. Then, the 17 kid center everyone has been talking about here won't be one because he was picked #10. Lets just not get ahead into things. These rooks have yet to play an NBA game and we are talking about them like accomplished vets. Lets just wait and see, and expect the best for all of them and for our franchise.

Worse, Amare, who was picked at 9, worked out for the Knicks, and Layden supposedly thought he couldn't play.

you gotta love how some guys are so down on the knicks and everything associated with them, but can project all-star stats, great Defense and clutch shots clucth shots for 3 kids who have never played in the league, and 1 of whom is fresh outta high school!!!!!!!!! Guns I really don't know about you.

Heaven forbid. There are the optimistic fans that root the next year no matter the roster, coach or previous record (e.g. Met fans) and there are the doomsaday fans, that no matter who is on the team and what management does they will suck...but they deep down hope they win...they are more afraid of being wrong then being happy (e.g. Red Sox fans...err, before last year)
all kool aid all the time.

No way Frye gives us those numbers at any point in his career - especially the rebounds and blocks.

Without looking it up, I'm thinking that those numbers would make him one of the elite centers in the game with only Shaq and Duncan matching those stats. Am I right?

Marv even the 16 9 and 1.7 would make him an unusually well-rounded player - only four players meet all of those:

Duncan
Shaq
Brand
Okafor

Not bad company.

There are very few cases of top level draft choices who went to college for atleast 2 years that didnt perfomr to a level that would be consitent with their career. Thats why I say its important for Frye to play well right now, just like Okafor. A lot of people in sports go by statistics now and the numbers are clear, your numbers are going to be very close to peak output in year 1 for the rest of your career. That means within 20% of your max output of your career.

Its very easy to see. There are few exceptions for upperclassmen who have been high draft picks. the numbers you put up will define what you will be going with statistics. The exceptions have been some players who havent gotten the ample PT, but still have ofered a solid per minute stat ratio. Its quite clear, 4 year high round draft picks have to perfomr well right out of the shute. Is it written in stone? no, but don't bet against overwhelming odds.

Please offer us names of players (more than 20 at the very least) with linkable, verifiable links to back up these figures/statistics you've putting here.
