That's a good point, but I do think this is an area where we really could take advantage of the new NBDL rules. Stash a Green or a Bynum in some sleepy Alabama town, or wherever they have those NBDL teams, and bring them up after a couple of years. They'll be away from the bright lights and get to cut their teeth playing big minutes in real games against other draft prospects and hungry journeymen you know are going to bust their ass to try to get noticed. After two years, given a good coaching system, I think what you have is roughly equivalent to a college soph who's ready to at least come off the bench as part of the regular rotation.
2) Even if they do become stars it will take years. There is no reason that we can't have cap room by that time.
We could, in theory, but it doesn't look like Isiah is going that route. We'd have to be a lot more frugal from here on out, and maybe even trade one of our bigger, longer contracts for a big expiring one.
