there should not be an age limit. Sorry.. if your 18 you can join the army, go to Iraq and kill people, but you cant play NBA basketball? Its just one of our many double standards.

The age limit is a business and an image decision by the NBA. That 18 year olds can fight in Iraq doesn't necessarily set precedent for a lower age limit for workers in a corporation. The question is simply, should private corporations be allowed to enforce an above-18 age limit? To me, the answer is a clear NO because you're age discriminating against adults.
they will never admit it but the players union wanted this just as much as the NBA. Thats a LOT more jobs for veteran players every year.

So every 18 and 19 year old kid that enlists is ready for the emotional and mental responsibility that military service entails?

Once again, it is about money.

Anybody who thinks this is about race, morals or whatever are naive.

So its ok for the army to take people that arent ready to serve because they are only 18, send them into combat and let them "pay for it with their blood" but its not fair for kids the same age enter the NBA draft, get selected and fail?

Dido... go have some coffee and get back to me.

The age limit allows veterans to play longer who are black, and lets these kids at least attempt to further their education, to many black males try to make the jump as fringe first rounders and blow their lifes because of it......

In reality its bull**** because at 18 you have the right to do anything, but in the long run it will probably help out these kids, not to mention generate more revenue for the most corrupt organization on the planet the NCAA

What does money have to do with race and morals?

Care to explain to me?

Kinda like what does Iraq has to do with morals? As in what oil has to do with it?

The only connection between money race and morals is that the latter two are used as a ruse to hid real ruthless financial motives of decisions made by an establishment be it business or government.

its racist to be Naive.

And its racist to not be Naive!

Personally if you can be tried as an adult in a murder case, then you should be able to play ball!

HOw about if they played from age 14 but as an amateur? Not get paid? Then they can do the whole "its been his dream his whole life" but not do it for the money! The players parents can get paid 20 million to be a locker room attendent!

And, I think the military should also raise the age of service to 19 also! Those kids need a year in the NBA before a tour of duty!
