I think I brought this up earlier in the thread regarding healthcare in Germany vs. The States. Germany has some pretty good surgeons but the health care costs are MUCH less here.
I think that is why Obamacare is so dangerous right now.

I know life is valuable, but it is hard to understand how they come up with that figure. I know it adds up, but I just have a feeling the costs are way overpriced.
I mean how many hours was that operation? What was the breakdown? I'd love to see a comparison vs here in Germany. (Mind you, quite a few German doctors go to America

SOCIALISM..........the whole system is lower cost because of gov't subsidiaries because the tax structure is so different.
My point was don't mind paying bigly for prescriptions and some costs but an operation.

They feel its the Mexicans, minorities, foreigners fault that they work at low income jobs. Not their limited high school education and disinterest in hard work. Luckily, those type of people are slowly being eroded by hard working immigrants looking to take advantage of the American opportunity and long standing Americans who understand the importance of education and hard work. Unfortunately, their are still way too many of the former and Trump does a good job using their bitter lives for support.

I just left fla, and there's a long way to go. The GOP is hardwired into the fla legislature, and the courts. Lots of people happy to keep them there. They just gave Rick Scott a second term with virtually no serious opposition. Tells me all I need to know about how far fla has to go.

I am in FL, just heard that republican turnout is up 6% in Duval County (Jacksonville), while democratic turnout is down 4%. Similar figures in Hillsdale county (Tampa).

Think you mean Hillsborough. I read quotes from progressive activists who move to fla and are really surprised by the lack of a ground game by democrats. The candidates they put up are too often florida snake oil salesmen, insiders, or candidates who have some good ideas but run into the buzzsaw that is fla politics. Going to take a lot more people, time, and money, to change things there.

can't stop evolution. in this case, the technological revolution. and you want a capitalistic society, then as darwin said, the strong will survive.

only thing that can change this is a world war or a world wide health epidemic - in other words, something catastrophic. otherwise, imho, there is really no way to curtail the inevitable.

That's true of any system. Its only as effective, and equitable, as the people who run it, and the willingness of society to hold those who undermine that system accountable. In the end, regardless of the system and its noble intentions, power over time concentrates to the top of the food chain to the exclusion of almost everyone else. Its a never ending battle to keep that from happening.

Trump has a nice early lead. I would be terrified if Hilary wins. Plus Florida is actually very tight right now

You can't really look at the early numbers because we don't know how many votes from each precinct have been reported. For example, if the voting is mostly from rural areas so far, a small Trump lead would be great news for Hillary.
