This season
-JB & KAT pick and pop.
-Featuring Mikal more often early as the secondary ball handler getting his midrange going especially if at SG being guarded by smaller players. Future
-Sliding OG to SF to free him up to guard more positions
-Adding more size to the bench.
Still higher levels that can be reached!
In the current line up with Josh, OG is the PF. Hope this also reduces his injury's? Our Defense is improved. OG at SG when Randle was here was nice, I get that. Who plays PF if not OG? Diawara? Maybe one day.
Josh and Mikal can handle a lot. Mikal Guarding Maxey? Brunson on Oubre, Josh on Edgecome worked. Brunson was free to double and if Oubre beats you with the 3, then so be it. We gave them that.
Other teams can counter. Clev. has Strus who can back Jalen down low and has decent range.
IF this is the best ball in your lifetime, OG at the PF is working!
Mosly your on point and I do see a lot of this but really depends on the opponent.
Sliding OG to SF would be due to adding a starting calibre PF into the starting lineup. Or being able to have a PF good enough to get into the regular rotation. Giving us the option to slide OG to SF if we need to match up with size and physicality. Wouldn't be to do it just to do it. Which is why it's under the future. For when the roster is cappable of pulling it off.
OG playing PF works because OG is more than cappable. But OG at PF has a cap on his defensive responsibilities. OG at SF, he is freed up and offers more flexibility for Brown to use him as a stopper if need be. Not to mention he is too strong for most SFs allowing Brown to dictate matchup problems.
For example vs Philly. Brunson is cooking VJ and they won't put Maxey on him obviously. With a natural PF, Philly wouldn't even be able to consider putting Oubre on him. As PG13 has to guard the PF, if they put Oubre on Brunson then that means VJ is on OG... Not to mention Maxey would need to stay on Mikal... Or vs Pacers last year we were pigeon held to having OG on Siakam. While Pacers were free to mix and match there defensive lineups as need be.
Brown would be in a stronger position to be the one to dictate matchups in his favor vs his opponents. Where a lot of teams wouldn't be able to get away with putting size and length on Brunson that isn't a point guard ,without paying dearly for it.
