They should divide salaries between offense and defense and you can only get up to half the max per side of the ball.
You know I gonna spin wit it

We just won a chip without a trad PG.
What they don't have is the guy that does other things. Neither does Philly. Lebron does it all but to what level at his age and will he hold up.

Knicks had OG, Mikal and Josh. All do other things really really well without the ball.

It will be interesting to see if the lessons gained from the finals run stick.

KAT's shift in role opened up the spacing and ball movement and everyone got involved.

Brunson is not a conventional PG at all. He's a genius at what he does.

What I wish for this team is to stay committed to the principles that transformed them in the first round into the team that won the championship.

That will primarily come from KAT and Brunson staying on the same page.

Cleveland is never going to win a chip with this crew.

Harden is hard-wired to self-destruct in the playoffs.

Mitchell takes whole games off when his team needs him most.

Good luck with that Ohio

Read this.....
Darius Garland is owed 87 million dollars over the next two years while James Harden just signed a contract for three years and 97 million dollars. So it is still a flexibility move by the front office.

They will perhaps cut cam whitmore and get under the apron with a stretch.
Garland was hurt a lot and while Cav's did not succeed, it was a good stab at crawling thru the window they had last season. Problem was knicks were there rested, healthy and clicking on all cylinders. Different team than the one Mitch dominated on them two years prior.
NO dean wade now, and trading Strus is not a bad thing. He has been injured each of the past two years.
Harden playoff performance drop off's mask his historically brilliant regular seasons. This is an 8 time all NBA player with an MVP to his name. Yes, all regular season. A 17 year career largely brilliant but no ring. It happens. Funny, he gets labeled "out of shape" but damn if he keeps coming back and putting up gaudy numbers. Im not a fan or overly sympathetic, I just really don't give a ****. I expect they will/should manage him better for a late season run. Have to say the same for Donovan Mitchell who I do like and carries himself very well on and off the court. Can't say his contract choices help his team but thats by mutual consent and he not a knick. Not our problem.
I expect them to contend in the east and like Indy, Philly, Boston and Knicks could contend. Key is "Could".

Lets not forget Knicks were very healthy and were fortuante to been able to manage OG's playoff injury and get him ready for the finals. It was like a perfect script was written but more impressivly executed. Thats what it takes to win a chip. It all has to come together with thin margins for error.

How so?

For two teams he played 70 games. .375 from the 3. Avg'd 34 min per game and avg.'d 23.6 pts per game.
He played for 39mil.
Everyone knows he old.
Everyone knows his post season numbers drop. Many players do, but its his history.
Everyone knows old gets older. He plays defense when he can. Not like he locks down dudes. He flops, but he gets to the line alot. Less now than in the past.
He is tempremental off the court.
Had had the leverage to get his way. Lots of people don't like player empowerment. They don't like Durant, Westbrook, Harden, or Lebron. These are MVP's.
He signed for 6mil less for next two years then he played for.

So with all this, how did he "con" his way? Your impying he mislead them. Or, decieved them?
THey went to conf. finals. That did not happen the previous seasons.
Im not saying he is likable. How did he conive the Cav's? Your an attorney right? So where is even the implied promise other than best efforts?

1. In writing?
2. Cheated his physical?
3. Has legal issues not disclosed?
4. Has not upheld to the standard of his contract?
5. Adolecent Elf Payton deflection tactic when you can't back your comment up?
6. Tells over and over again how you think Andre Drummond is fat?

It's their own damn fault for being led to believe that he'll play for them if they gave him a contract

I know, right?

Bunch of knobs them blokes running Cleveland like they expect to beat race horses with Clydesdales when we already have the horses AND Clyde.

And while it doesn't count against the cap, the cost of maintaining a 24 hour crew of beard fluffers is obscene

I guess they look at it as "Hey, Garland was hurt, paid a lot more, and Harden/Cavs were good enough to make the Conf. finals which had not occured since Lebron wore the uniform. By measure to some as a successful season. Not from a Knick perspective.

Do they exceed? I doubt it. But they likely a top 5 seed. The team is about Mobley and Mitchell. Harden can carry it a times. Just not in the month of May.

They could have signed LeBron for peanuts and traded Harden to another sucker team. LeBron and Harden are the same thing now two divas who walk the ball up the court and fill up box scores and play 0 defense because they can’t move laterally that’s why we kicked the sh t out of the Cavs in the playoffs. In Harden’s case he was never a good defender because he was a stats guy.

Now is this going to turn into another thread hijacked by you fawning over regular season box scores like you did with Porzingis? Those big regular season games facing the nets and wizards. He will also be 40 years old by the end of this contract great deal for Cleveland

The East was weak last season. Celtics rushed back Tatum too soon which led to him getting injured in the playoffs. Pacers didn’t have Halliburton. 5-6 eastern conference teams were openly tanking. Cavaliers actually regressed with Harden they won 64 games the previous season now they are locked into a contract with him until he’s 40.

Who said anyting about Lebron? Your making it out like you were in the room with them and what was considered. Im not defending or fawning over Harden, im just pointing out its dumb to say he was pulling a con over anyone.
You add nothing but repeating what I said that he is a regular season performer whose playoff performances are lessor.

As for your adolecent deflection to Porzingus you forget Boston won a chip with him. He played in only 7 playoff games but when he played he did well. No con eitehr as his medical issues were no suprise to anyone.

Teams take risks and sometimes they work out and sometimes not. Clev choose after having him for a third of the season and they made conf. finals. Not winning a chip is not a failure for teams getting to conf. finals. Why?, its is financially beneficial. I gather its more important to debate me with no basis then just let it go.

You have given me one good reason if both Cleveland and PHilly make it to conf. finals. I'll hate knicks were not advancing and perhaps one of them defeated Knicks but the ever so slight remembrerence of you looking stupid will give me one moment. If not, I'll won't care as Knicks winnig is all that matters. Not Harden and not Lebron.

The real con is you trying to be witty and cute with inaccuracies.

Re: Klay thompson
Shame he lost two prime years do to those back to back awful injuries. He was very much on his way to a sure HOF induction as he had two all NBA nods. Perhaps 4 rings with 5 allstar inclusions with a gaudy 3pt % should still enough. He'll be 37 and should have some nice looks outside with Heat. Can't speak to his lateral movement if his defensive chops are still there as earlier in career. With Curry perhaps the greatest shooting back court tandem?
Playing under the shadow of Curry both aided his career but denied him some of the spotlight. HE was paid very well though and when he returned from injury still had nice seasons and another ring. Hell of a career.

Funny that the old guys like Paul George, Durant, Giannis, Dame, Kawhi, Lebron, Klay, etc all making moves in the last year or so and yet there was Leon NOT pulling the starphuch! Instead hungry guys in thier prime who ascended into their best versions as a knick and committed to chemistry!
