After that you gotta figure one of our youngins will turn into a decent piece and we can sign a solid vet.

I loved Payne all year - but in playoffs he's basically just come out and fouled at every chance. Shot selection/making has been a dud but his D has just been to go out and make fouls (very undisciplined).

I would give D-Wright a thought for 8-10 minutes. He's big to guard say Hali, he won't make bonehead plays and can make occasional 3.

It would so Thibs-wild to see Wright over Payne for minutes, I know I’d love to see it.

FYI for anyone (like me) who missed part of the game or wants to rewatch: MSG replaying now (10AM), 1PM, and 8PM.

Didn't think they could rebroadcast ESPN games!

one thing to keep in mind, we've played two incredible defensive teams. Maybe some of our other guys can get going against a lesser defensive team. Every round is a different ballgame, don't count out Payne from having his moments, he was huge against DET in game 1.

and BOS's 5 out hopefully prepared us for IND's offense.

Great article by Fred. This team all year seemed to get a little too comfortable at a certain level of play and lose focus. We did it Game 5 Detroit, Game 3 and 5 this series too. I hope this is it and we turn the corner.

Starting to really understand why PJ Tucker is here

IMO stage is set for a KAT breakout series.

I mentioned this in one of the other threads but you have to wonder if Carlisle will take a page from the Celts and Pistons playbook and guard Kat with Siakum and put Truner on Hart so he can play free saftey and double Kat in the post.

This run has definitely adjusted my perspective on these things a little bit. Also watching some of our pieces like Mikal and Mitch who it was tough to see their impact during a regular season marathon became very apparent in a playoff series. Some moves are designed for a playoff run and might not bear fruit until the playoffs.

same... I post like a homer but didnt see a path to win vs. Boston because there was nothing to see. My only thought was we have 4 games of what not to do... lets see what Thibs and his crew cook up.

Like this is EXACTLY what they envisioned getting KAT and Mikal both at high costs. They went for it and wow. Leon dealt Thibs pocket aces and he's lulling everyone in

This is a great point!

I think we smoke Indy. We just need to,stay at home on their shooters like we did last night. They’ll launch from 2-3 feet behind Tahoe line. Last night we were meeting white and Payton there. No freebies

I think Mikal on haliburton will be key. I think we win the boards

Key issue will be refs. Indy will mug Brunson up the court the way Detroit did. If refs allow that we’ll need to adapt. If they don’t we win easily

this run is starting to have a different feel.

Beating Boston is simply wild and you guys are touching on something. Knicks are getting better with each series.

Detroit series showed me that Mikal and KAT had a playoff gear. A level of defense and physical play we did not see from them in the regular season. That showed up again and was critical in BOTH series.

Boston series showed me that McBride and Mitch are BACK. That is ALL the bench we need. A sprinkle of Cam/Sham/Precious here and there fine, but McBride is looking like he's back to being the guy you expect to see on the floor for 30 minutes a game giving Josh/Mikal/OG/Brunson their breathers. Mitch... man... just doing 25-30 minutes a game of Mitch things and we have two guys coming off the bench who are an utter menace

I agree 100 ! Just being greedy and just hoping another bench player or two add something. Can be Precious,Cam, Wright, or Shamet, don't care. Hope they're listening to motivational podcasts and eating their Wheaties.

We don’t need trades of that magnitude but some bench improvements and maybe a final starting lineup piece and making Josh super sub and this might actually be a powerhouse 60 win team next year.

Be interesting what they do. Even bank on development of Dadiet, Kolek, and Hukporti.

I’d bet that McCullar will get more playing time than all 3 above

Tend to agree with McCullar but his shot is sketch. Daddiet has way more upside but he really needs to get quicker/stronger.

Huk is definitely great to have around/develop if we keep Kat/Mitch and have him ready to step in for injury/emergency.

Dadiet can play 3/4, hopefully he plays hungry and learns from OG and Hart and is a 3&D bench player. A Deuce in a big wings body. If he does that next season, we will be great. His development in season 3 might develop a more extensive offensive game, but if he can be 3&D next year we will be much improved.

Yep. Knicks need more in the locker room and on court in an alpha kind of way

To add to Martin's post above on Mitch +46.

With Mitch on court for 124 minutes Knicks a +46.

With Mitch on bench for 169 minutes Knicks a -43.

Just WOW.

Admittedly, a lot of this was because KP was ineffective cause of his virus thing. It definitely played a part but no spilt milk there, him missing games and minutes was always a well known built in risk for Boston.
