Edey may turn into a really great player.

He does not fit what the Knicks are doing IMHO

He wouldn't need to play immediately. Mitch contract runs out in 2 seasons. Could be developed to be his eventual replacement. Mitch can also be had in a trade in the right deal. Precious even if retained, which odds are leaning towards no. Wouldn't be retained for longer than a 2 yr deal as well.

In this extreme hard cap era. Going to have to utilize pipeline players who keep the cost down while also not needing to throw them to the wolves immediately.

Would be content with not investing a first on Edey and looking at Hunter Dickenson for the 2nd to be the pipeline 3rd C.

Instead using the 2 first to acquire a Forward that can get buckets.

I have a similar philosophy. The forward doesn't even have to be offensive creator as far as I'm concerned. They just need to be able to knock down open shots. This lineup could definitely use more defensive variety off the bench tho.

Agree. Having watched a lot of Edey, on O he is good around the rim and in the paint. He is also a very good foul shooter for a big man. On D he is a post presence however IMO has footspeed issues and would not be able to rotate out (and back) quickly enough in Thibs defensive schemes.

He was a good offensive player in college. But he only goes one way and while he has a good hook ****, I think decent NBA defenders will learn to take that way early on. As an example, Vooch is a way better offensive player. But I think he would be a bad fit on this team due to the same defensive limitations you mentioned with Edey.

While this would take some restructuring of sorts and faith in his ability. There is the philosophy that they surround Edey the scrappy versatile defenders and allow him to do his thing offensively for the 2nd unit.

Mcbride, Hart, OG who will be staggered for 2nd unit mins fit this mold already. Sign a guy like Isaac then Edey would be surrounded with quality versatile defenders.

Anyone got a scouting report on him? I want to see what kind of players the Knicks are interested in.

No combine stats. Seems like he makes up for seemingly average athleticism with pretty solid footwork and timing. Slightly reminiscent of Channing Frye. I assume this is the 38 pick.

Interested to see what happens to Isaac Jones' draft stock. He is older (24) but a feel good story and really good length. Dunn appears to be a 1st rounder in mocks after the Combine. Tidjane Salum appears to be out of our range now, approaching the lottery.

24 Yves Missi
25 Ryan Dunn
38 Isaac Jones?

You don’t think his game of dunking on 6’1 guys from East Tennessee community college will translate to the pros?

I would let Sims go. We need depth at the C position. Time to move on there

Why the Sims hate? He’s a cheap and effective defensive center

Sims is $1.6M end of bench guy. Honestly, his presence doesn't move the needle one way or the other. He's salary filler at the most. I have no problem cutting him, but it still doesn't really address the iHart, MitchRob, Precious issue. As for Edey, I wouldnt waste a pick on him. What's his ceiling? Boban?

Eddy’s ceiling is Sims, ironically

Ware is a stretch 5 who can defend, played for Woodson and is repped by CAA.

Dunn played at Virginia, is arguably the best defensive player in the draft, is from NY, and also repped by CAA.

Both players make a ton of sense in terms of how the Knicks operate.

Knicks historically draft (or sign undrafted) guys with connection to the coaching staff (Quickley, J Toppin), guys repped by CAA (O Toppin, J Toppin, Jokubaitis) or guys with strong defensive backgrounds (Grimes, McBride, Sims.)

Ware had a good combine by all accounts. I have Missi higher in my head, but Missi might be off the boards already.

Ware, Dunn, Jones would be a nice haul.

Knicks seem to go for the local kids a lot and do point them to the GLeague team, I like that.

I’ll be shocked if Ryan Dunn doesn’t end up here with a pick. Being a local guy. His CAA agent is pointing him to the Knicks most likely and knows his ticket is as a defensive stopper and thibs is the guy for that. He can split between the Knicks and westchester team to get more reps and develop offensively. The Knicks don’t let much info slip out these days but I’d be shocked if there isn’t some sort of promise there.
