Ewing retired as one of the Top 50 players of all time and a HOF. The fan feeding frenzy is becoming so over the top it is leading to really dumb overreach comments like this. Maybe time for me to pack it in and just enjoy watching the games...... society is already overly negative enough as it is.

Let me add 1 thing that I should have included- in my comparison, is we’re probably never going to get RJ the help he needs, and we never got Ewing the help he needed.

I’m not saying RJ is or could have been a top fifty player- though he was picked 1 behind a player that will definitely be up in that level in Ja Morant if he can stay healthy.

He attacked first and didn’t settle. He will figure all of that out. It just takes some guys time.

Breen said Randle getting 14 less touches per game. RJ similar.
Does that mean he should be hitting his 3’s more? Of course.
Kid is getting rebounds, passing, and getting to the line.

I think RJ needs to dial it back a bit and stop hunting those 20 ppg. Let the game come to you. Focus more on being a 15 ppg player with as good a defense and playmaker as you can over dying to score 20 ppg no matter how many shots it takes. Being a 20 ppg scorer doesn't make you an All-Star anyway.

He can be a 20ppg scorer, he just has to be way more efficient with his shots!

So I think he and the coaching staff have to focus on making him more efficient with his shooting. He worked on his FT shooting over the summer. Great, it's improved.

In season, he has to improve his 3pt shooting back up to 40% like he had it his second year.

i might be one of RJ's biggest fans but he has not been playing well. Even last night he was a no-show on many defensive possessions.

i think it's perfectly acceptable to be an RJ fan and also acknowledge when he's playing sub-par

How long do you wait? What's your limit? When can a reasonable person determine that a player is just not worth it.

RJ has been given the luxury of 3 solid years of minutes.

He is limited defensively cause he can't move fast enough, same with Fournier. Those guys just don't get faster magically. At best, he'll be a below average to average defender. This is something you just can't learn and incredibly he is going backwards in this department.

On Offense, here are his eFG% for the 3 complete seasons and this year: 45%, 49%, 47%, 45%. The AVERAGE sg/sf type player is ~52-53%. RJ is going to have to work REALLY HARD to just get to average.

He is a turn over machine.

How many ****ty years does a player get before we realize he is below average?

Is there any real indicator that the talent is there if only he could put it together? I don't see it. What are the show-me moments? Where are they?

The only thing I can see that RJ has gotten better at in 3+ years is FT shooting.

Can anyone point to anything else? In 3 years of hard work that he is supposedly known for?

fanbase def lacks patience. Unfortunately I think RJ's looking more and more like a bust. I hate to say it but the guy I see over and over is Quentin Richardson. Big strong guard, gets hot from time to time, not really good at anything (at an NBA level)

I think its very possible RJ is not any better than Cam/Grimes/IQ and only gets the minutes because of the franchise commitment (#3) and contract.

Or he’s just a notoriously slow starter. Remember he took over the entire second half of last season and his efficiency was much better. I think he’s adjusting to a new offense with Brunson leading and just needs time to settle. Not an excuse and I’m not an apologist for him but this is his yearly trend.
