We have a democratic society but it seems as if you exercised your free right to vote for ANY candidate you get cast in a scarlet letter. That is wrong. I like the phrase agree to disagree. I see one thing you see another but I’ll respect you as a decent human no matter what.

Briggs I think what many feel is that not voting is not recognizing the danger that Trump has and continues to pose on the country. You have every right to not vote - but it does reflect a difference in perspective. Most people who feel outraged can't understand why others don't view things to the same extent. I feel that way and wonder what would have to happen for everyone to recognize how bad Trump is during this pandemic? Murder caught on video... feel some would still somehow try to minimize and/or justify it - Crazy to me

While I'm not inspired by Biden, I would vote for a rock over Trump at this point... simply because Trump has shown how scary things can get when you have an incompetent leader with narcissistic tendencies running a county. Pre-pandemic - I just thought he was a self-serving, racially damaging/divider that looks out for himself and is driven by a lack of morals. I personally couldn't stand Hillary - but she would at least made sure there was a plan, and taken a position/stance based on scientific experts and citizen wellbeing. The fact that he has the virus, continues to defy/ignore scientists and has not addressed any significant contributors to improving the pandemic (eg masks, testing, modeling caution) tells me that we'd be better off with a rock or a president who may show sharp cognitive decline during his future term.

Yes, even Reagan did a better job in office than Trump. I don't blame anyone who chooses not to vote. But voting is one of the few ways that we can influence change, or at least make our voices heard. If you're too overwhelmed to do that simple act, then how can you expect anyone to take you seriously when voice an opinion on anything. I used this example in the CP3 thread, but this election might be like choosing between syphilis and gonorrhea. They both suck, but one can do more damage if left untreated and takes longer to cure. Biden is gonorrhea. He will be annoying to deal with, but he will clear up relatively quickly.

your analogy is way off. The scenario is sitting in your fav restaurant and getting the choice of a bland chicken dinner you could have cooked at home yourself and a literal pile of **** filled with broken glass. Undecided voter will ask what the side dish is with the chicken before they can make a choice and the rest make a decision

EDIT

And I am extending the analogy: if you choose NOT to vote, you are up for the possibility that this country will be AOK with eating just **** filled with glass for 4 more years. No thanks and **** off

What’s best for the country is to put stimulus money into the millions of pockets who need it— I understand that there are people who hate Trump— but right now to me getting those people funds takes HUGE precedent and I DO NOT think either side should hold those people hostage.

EITHER SIDE? Are you this ignorant of what has already been happening?

Congress/Pelosi passed a gigantic stimulus bill in May that any prior president in the history of the USA would have gobbled up in a nanosecond because they would have realized it would goose the economy just in time for the election like no other. It's been sitting on McConnell's desk. THE SENATE REFUSES TO BRING IT UP

Pelosi already gave the gov't the biggest out EVER and Trump is too dumb enough and too scared enough to push it thru the Senate. Because he doesn't know how legislation works

How can you NOT REALIZE THIS?

BRIGGS, please stop the Jedi mind tricks. No one is falling for it. The number #1 Republican strategy is to try to get people not to vote. Not voting is not a solution. Everyone needs to vote and then demand that our candidates do the work they were elected to do. It is your responsibility as a citizen to vote, and too many people died so that I could vote for me to ignore that obligation.

How is me not voting have anything to do with you? The next time I vote will be for a pleasant- minded female who is interested in redirecting the wealth gap by increasing minimum wage. Something like a less radical Bernie Sanders. I don’t like Joe Biden and Donald Trump lost my vote. What I want to see is some redistribution of wealth while keeping our free market system. Focus on American industry while paying the workers MORE. I’m sick of hearing a male voice— time for a decent minded female not named Clinton.

You dont see anything even vaguely familiar to what happened in Europe in the 1930s? A strongman telegraphing his views on the election, democracy. Doesnt seem to bother you one bit.

The issue is not you voting. The issue is you telling other people they should not vote. That is how Trump got elected last time, and I am not going to sit by why people try to encourage a repeat. Personally I think ever citizen has an obligation to vote. If you disagree fine, but I suspect you are in fact going to vote for Trump and you are just trying to see if you convince others not to vote.

You don't need my approval, but I'm cool with it, Briggs.

This is a thread on politics, so if people come into it, participate and hear **** they don't like, well it's a thread on politics.

The way I see it, if society started to collapse, if this board was still up, I think people would post and the regulars would try to help each other if they could. I think Briggs, if he could, would try to help people here. The odds of that happening are 100,000 better than Donald Trump or Joe Biden giving a **** about anyone here.

Donald Trump is a professional troll. That's what reality stars/4th tier celebrities do, troll for attention. He says and does some of the dumbest **** you can't even begin to imagine. But if the Democratic Party wanted to win this election, they should have spent years ahead of time grooming much better candidates. I get why Biden got the ticket over Warren and Sanders from a strategic standpoint, but Democrats put themselves in this position by having lackluster candidates in play.

If I was a power player in the Democratic Party, I would have promised the sun and the moon to Denzel Washington to run. He would have immediately gotten the black vote. Women still think he's handsome and nearly all of them are shallow as **** so they'd vote for him, esp the mindless soccer mom Karens out there. He's been married a long time so that helps. His wife is plain so that helps too. He's got kids and none of them are in any major scandals. One was an athlete and is an actor too, so that will help. All of the entertainment industry would be out in full force to endorse him. He's a good public speaker, he's got real charisma, he handles himself well in tough interviews. He has no major scandals. He's cheated on his wife a bunch but that's not going to get held against him in modern times. He's got decades of being in the public eye so has brand name recognition. Fundraising wouldn't be a problem. He'd probably get a lot of the young voters too. Would he be a good President? Probably not. He has no experience. But would he win over Trump? Easy. People, most of them, are ****ing dumb. They will remember him from Crimson Tide and think that counts as actual military experience. "But he went toe to toe with Gene Hackman, so he will be able to fend off those other foreign leaders easy!"

Biden is a horrible public speaker and that will cost him. Bill Clinton was a fantastic public speaker. Obama was a pretty good one. It makes a huge difference. Ronald Reagan was funny and was charming as all ****. Part of voter apathy is that Trump looks like a greedy crazy narcisstic ******* and Biden looks like a greedy boring geriatric Beta. Basic rule of public life - You can be many things and still hold power, but being boring isn't one of them.

I think most people forget or it's just something they don't want to talk about. The average American is pretty stupid. And shallow. Lots of middle aged women thought Bill Clinton was very attractive, do you think that had no bearing on their votes or their willingness to forgive his cheating?

Look at what happens if Biden wins. He'll be 81 years old in 2024. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are also both old as ****. Andrew Cuomo probably tanked all hope with COVID19. Buttigieg? Bennet? The future of the party might be Ocasio-Cortez. She's passionate but she's dumb and she'd be seen as way too young. Let's get real, it doesn't matter your political affiliation, you want someone that young and inexperienced to be in charge of America's nuclear arsenal? I'd totally sport **** her six ways from Sunday, just to say I did, but that doesn't mean I'd want her running the entire country.

Why not Denzel? Reagan and Trump won. Half the cast of the movie Predator won. Shit, if I was Carl Weathers, I'd run for Governor of something. I'd tell the public I'd want to be head of FEMA. "I'm the Master of Disaster.....Management"

I mean the fact that the Democratic Party couldn't come up with some better candidates to handily beat out a ****ing nimwit like Trump is completely and totally sad. And some of you want to blame Briggs for that? The whole "this guy is the least offensive of the two ****bags here" is just not all that inspiring to people. Here's the part that will wet some noodles, just because you think Briggs is wrong doesn't mean he doesn't have a point. People thought that way about Jose Canseco too. Just because Canseco was a loudmouth calculating ******* didn't mean he didn't have a point.

Are some of you guys really going to be openly upset about the musings of someone who wanted to give Greg Monroe max money and then to draft Frank Kaminsky?

I have a lot of love in my heart for you Briggs. But you know that, because when the last political **** hit the fan, I might have been the only one to speak up for you. You might be the bat**** loopy rambling Uncle at Thanksgiving, but more importantly, you are OUR bat**** loopy rambling Uncle at Thanksgiving.

TT— I’m with you. All I did or ever did was give my point of view on politics for one voting cycle. Whether right or wrong shouldn’t I get my democratically free choice to decide without castigation or a scarlet letter? These are just opinion threads in a sports blog. I never said anything personal or used foul language towards anyone—- I just gave my opinion. What’s my opinion worth— very little. One voice out of 350 million. I see a lot of people especially on Facebook who hold it as a capital offense if u did not vote for Hillary. A lot of people did NOT like Hillary abd I used too. I don’t understand why u can agree to disagree isn’t a policy? Ok I don’t agree with your pof. Not assault someone character. I had to say 3x I’m not voting for Trump but somehow it turns into of course he is or he’s trying to navigate no votes. My friend that’s insane. I’m a caring person but I don’t get into others business. I was straight forward saying I voted for Trump last time— why wouldn’t I be straight forward this tine???? I’m also not a Russian bot😺 Come on brotherIn just a f aging knicks rangers mets Jets fan who wants to just see 1 of them win before he expires to be honest.

Hi Briggs! Remember me? Im one of the handful of posters who spent years lobbying the mods to reinstate you. Have to say that it was a big mistake. You are Trump's love child. Who cares if Democracy dies, Briggs needs his tax break!

Keep hiding in your basement. Pussy.

Missing what I said here. What the heck did I say about tax breaks? Why are you making up stuff? I only wrote on this post because I was upset about the lack of urgency the entire government had for lower income folks? What exactly does that have to do with tax breaks for anyone. I’m not getting it? What’s with personal attacks of the abrasive kind as well? Not needed.

Well Briggs, to be fair, a lot of people are just passionate about their viewpoints. I don't think passion is a bad thing at all. I would look to people's intent over their delivery at times, esp when they are fellow Knicks diehards. We all love the Knicks here and want them to win, it's all any of us really need in common. Give the tolerance you ask for, and at times, give the tolerance you think you should have even if you don't believe you are currently getting it yourself. Like I said, if **** went sideways, I think those guys that don't agree with you would want to help you in real life if they could and you'd probably do the same for them. That's more than any politician will give anyone here.

Be fair Briggs, a Russian bot would never want to give Enes Kanter 80 million dollars. Take a moment to laugh at yourself a little Briggs, a Russian bot would be a better armchair GM than you.

If you give an honest answer and folks don’t take it that way— than what’s the difference? I never said anything about others viewpoints. I don’t criticize others— I respect.
