Nothing about his game jumps out at you at this point, except the fact that nothing jumps out at you.

I wanted to see a little more of Hinton, who I don't think played in the 2nd half, and less of Barrett, who probably needed to sit and watch.

You wonder what is going on in his head when he's seeing Iggy, his fellow Canadian, playing the way he did.

I didn't research Barrett that well because he was the consensus pick at 3. The Texas Tech kid, Jarrett Culver intrigued me a bit, but I thought Barrett, or Morant, if Memphis took Barrett, was a no brainer.

Not sure but Lampe was in the Sweetney draft. I remember thinking the Knicks nailed that draft because Lampe was supposed to be a lottery pick.

Pretty troubling we are losing again with our two cornerstones out there playing in their second year. Not a great sign.

I figured you would post something like this

If I judges Iso off of his first two SL games last year I would have cut him before training camp. Don't take SL seriously.

Agreed. I hate overreactions. Is he struggling? Yes. Is it only 2 SL games? Yes

Some Knicks fans are the worst, is it any wonder no big FA wants to come here? Raging on a rookie because of summer league If they keep it up and even rookies won't want to come here

30 wins looks like a dream. We have rotation players out there and we are losing games to scrubs. Perry should be fired if we don't see some improvement this year. Barrett was the worst player on the court again last night. The guy is slow, unathletic, and can't shoot at all. This franchise is in serious trouble. Building through the draft is great if you hit on the picks but if you keep missing you might as well trade the picks for players.

Barrett looks awful, makes you wonder why we kept trying out other top picks?

The media would have destroyed the front office if we didn’t pick Barrett. As of right now he looks like a project second round pick who needs d league time. His shot is aweful, his excuse is he hasn’t played since his last duke game ? WTF this kid needs to be taking shooting lessons daily like 1000 shots a day .

Iggy looks like the better player!

Now with that said Barrett is only 18, but man he is raw! Dotson and frank should have no problem beating this kid in the rotation.

RJ is pressing too much....trying to prove his worth, instead of just letting the game come to him and been a point forward. I'm not worried about RJ....between his confidence, steve nash, and his dad pro skills.....he will show his worth. His main skill set is what he did at duke....played down hill.....ignite the transition offense. He has all around skills....but until he has that 1 skill that he can lean on, he will continue to look like this. Give him time....Hes well liked, very coachable....I'm sure coach K is in his ear as we speak.

I get it that these games don't amount to much and guys can over perform and under perform.

I want to know what is going to make RJ special going forward.

I'm fine with all this, but he doesn't even have the fundamentals to fall back on.

It's an adventure when be goes to his right (even when he made a shot it looked like he was just throwing it up and hoping), his outside shooting has never been that good, he's not enough of an athlete overwhelm NBA players, and defensive tenacity is not there.

He seems to be a good rebounder, and there was one play at the end of regulation where he and Mitch really challenged a driver (Barrett's man(, and he made a nice recovery, but in general his D is pretty poor.

We were also told that he had pretty good court awareness, but I've seen nothing like that from him in the small sampling we have so far.

Still very early. He might be out of shape, he might be tentative because of the pressure he puts on himself, but I feel some concern.

That’s what’s most alarming...

Everyone is saying it’s summer league. We have two starters and a guy in our rotation playing along with the #3 pick in the draft playing. If anything that should be taking pressure off of RJ because he’s not carrying the load and out there alone.

Dotson would run circles around him. I’m all for giving guys time, shots come so not alarming that he can’t make open jump shots. Did you see him shoot free throws? The athleticism on the drives isn’t there, his feet look slow defensively and his handle is a nightmare right now. Again, you’re playing against a team that likely won’t have more than 3 guys in the league next season.

We were picked to win summer league. Knox looks like. Space cadet with a pure jumper that just floats around and hits threes and does nothing else.

Need more effort and intensity out there.

Wanted RJ at three. Still think its WAY too early to procalaim his future. Not concerned about missing shots. Not concerned about poor court vision. Seems par for the course for most 19 year olds in first years.

With that said, I AGREE with you. The thing to keep an eye on is RJ's athleticism. Something I have been a bit dissapointed with. Most will point to lack of results in the stat line but what I look for in any draft pick is the level of quickness, ability to separate or a unique talent that makes them potentially better than other draft picks and which enables them to compete with some of the best athletes in the world. Thing I liked about Mithcell, Smith JR. and something that should be required in any top 5 pick. Honestly, Jared Harper, who was undrafted and 5 foot nothing, showed more athleticism than just about everyone on the court yesterday. Not that athleticism is a guarantee but IMO it is something top players ussually have alot of. IMO And for those that say, well thats not RJ's game. they should keep in mind that anyone who has a problem shooting HAS TO be able to seperate and get to the basket.

Still, WAY TOO EARLY to proclaim the kids ceiling or future. Lets hope he starts putting it together and shows why he was considered so high. Everyone wants it immediately(including me) but think we should let the kid turn 21 before he is truly judged.

AS for game..
Knox had a silky shot. Looks good as far as being the player to stretch the floor. Needs a add to mix to be the go to scorer. Saw a nice drive and dish and tried to get to the basket a few times.
Iggy impressed. Seems like he will always be a CRAFTY scorer.
Mitch with the high motor. Awesome! but needs to know when to just close out. He will be faked into foul trouble if not.

Looks like some of you hit the panic button so hard, you broke it. Duke was a well oiled machine, everyone knew their place on the team, their assignment. Barrett is now on a team where some teammates are trying to make a case to stick around. Barrett knew his role on the team. Im not going to be remotely concerned until Barrett plays with with Smith jr/Payton, and the vets who were signed over the summer.

Barrett reminds me of Scottie Pippen, at least his rookie year, so far. Pippen struggled his rookie season. Shot, rebounded poorly. His transformation into a star didnt happen overnight. Zion and Barret were like Jordan and Pippen in college. Seem to be following the same path in the pros. Zion, with the hot start (before getting hurt) Barrett struggling.

Barrett might not end up being the Alpha on the team. We find a star to play that role, or draft one, Barrett might end up being our Pippen, in time.

He looks thicker than Dot too. We need to get Mitch in touch with Frank's trainer lol Seriously, this is what can happen when you get guys in so young. Maturity sets in. I'm hopeful that includes the mental aspect as well.

Is that a fanny pack on Frank?
Got an intravenous HGH hooked up?

Glad Frank is not playing SL. ITs a hot mess out there. For now the very least knicks value him enough not to dump him.
I don't think he is a traditional NBA PG. Thus kid turns into a Point wing and hits his shots we gonna have to apologize to Phil.
Long way to go before then!!!

I'm looking at his upper arm and forearm...Looks like he finally reached athletic puberty.

Seems fuller in the face, too.

Some envisioned a possible lineup of Smith, Barrett, Knox, Randle, and Mitch...That will be the worst defensive lineup in the league by far.
