fair points. i've been praying for baron all year. but this may be too much for him, honestly.

but when i'm watching this team run a unit of toney douglas, billy walker, jared jeffries, amar'e and mike bibby for six minutes in a row in the second half and missing every contested shot they take, all from 18 feet away from the hoop or more and a bunch of turnovers and no time outs, no substitutions... i just have to wonder about the coach. especially when this team seems to lose it's confidence SO quickly if the other team even hints at making a run. if anything coach should have a quick trigger with the time out sometimes.

and honestly, i do think posting up amar'e or melo with different spacing on the floor would be a lot more effective than having them take contested 18 footers and only occassionally slip their man for a layup. and i do think the triangle would be more effective. there is such a thing as point guard play, but the jvg knicks never had it. there's also such a thing as playing inside out. especially when you have the advantage inside.

i agree with alot of what both of you guys have been saying.. i think what i bolded is a big problem too. right now we have no choice but to give those guys alot of minutes and it's hurting us. our depth is very shallow. as martin said - when he signed chandler he gave up a lot for something that would be better in the long-term.

i'm still a firm believer that once we get a real PG on this team we are going to look a whole hell of a lot different.

What bugs me is that they played Ill Nasty Ball against the 'Cats and then they throw this turd in the pool last night.

couldn't catch this game but from the box score it looked like we lost because

- we sucked from downtown.

- melo's wrist still ain't right

- amear's assist:turnover ratio was 0:6. were these turnovers the now familiar put the ball on the floor, blinder on and head down and get stripped variety?

ray of light:

we can't suck from downtown all season can we?

if our system depends on outside shooting shouldn't MDA just throw Novak out there as much as he can?

TD will not shoot 23% from three all season right?
Ditto Landry who almost shot 40% last season and is shooting 20% right now
Same for Billy Walker (43, 38, 32)

Oddly Melo is a career 32% shooter from downtown. he shot 40% plus with us last season but that might have been a fluke?

Let's try to elevate the level of discourse in this byeetch. Please

do you mind elaborating?

not really worth jumping in or I would have. Too much knee jerk reaction and frustration from losses. 10 years worth. Fire a coach cause we have no outside shooters and no PG? And neither "allstar" has shown up yet outside of like 2 or 3 games between the 2 of them? <shruggs>

I 100% agree with you Martin, I nearly tried to post something and couldn't find the motivation to do so.

Let's go, let's change the coach. And then, TD will be a great pg, Stat will jump again and MElo will stop being a ballhog.

Sounds like a good plan.

Did you guys notice this in the game?? I did not at the time (I probably had my eyes closed in sheer terror) but I read this happened and I am very worried.

"With New York trailing 52-51, ‘Melo streaked down-court off a Cleveland miss. Iman Shumpert was trying to push the ball up the floor, and for just a split second could have hit Anthony for a layup, but the rookie either never saw him or was unwilling to risk a turnover."

"Shockingly, instead of finishing the play, ‘Melo threw his arms up in disgust and turned his back on the action. Shumpert, who had by then driven into the lane, tried to set up an open Anthony in the corner, but the flat-footed #7 had not yet recovered from his hissy fit, and the ball sailed out of bounds."

This is more that a "hissy fit" in my opinion. This is Melo quitting on his team and he is one of our "leaders." Holy crap!! It is stuff like this that is making me think that these guys are never gonna get it together and that sadly, we are SCREWED!!

This never happened. Much as I dislike the Melo trade, I must admit he has never appeared naked on court.

Maybe he should try playing naked?? Sure as hell couldn't hurt!!
