Briggs - what you said

"The funny part is the Nate haters have been waiting to pounce but he has given them any ammunition. Think about it--people are complaning after he went 29-8-4 off the bench When Nate was hot he shouldve been taken out and sat the rest of the way Mike D didnt do that--thats on him."

The funny part is that Nate is not perfect. Emotion is a part of his game. You take the bitter with the sweet.

Ig Danilo Gallinari posted 29-8 and 4 in ANY single game there would be a movement to rename Seventh Avenue after him.

This is really a stupid post. Nate Robinson is a great sixth man --- one of the best in the game. The guy if fiery so you could have small incidents from time to time. If I can remember guys like Dennis Rodman Rasheed Wallace Laimbeer etc.. are much worse than Nate and have won multiple championships. He can also be moved to starting PG which I cant believe was not explored further after his near triple double. Am I crazy or did Nate have 29-8-4 off the bench last night shooting at 55% EFG? If he was hot--blame the frikin coach for putting him back in. Mike D is a brutal end of game coach. He needs to go to a Jim Calhoun session on how to coach a team in the final 3:00.

no actually the funny part is people like u who interpret these types of small criticisms as hatred for the guy when plenty of praise has been heaped on Nate by the same posters addressing the issue, & then go ahead & rip apart young rookies like Gallinari no matter what they do positive or negative simply to try & sound like an authority on NBA prospects every chance they get... stop being such a damn hypocrite & learn some reading comprehension.

yes, nate's an idiot. but i still don't understand the hate for him. he's put in this role to carry the team offensively b/c duhon can't score, hughes is a straight up scrub, wilson is inconsistent and jeffries has hands of stone. ok, he's a bonehead but is that reason enough to get rid of him? you keep him and work with him. slot him into the role he should be in as a 6th man. but it's all moot b/c he won't be here next season anyway.

the team is full of role-players. can't expect them to win big. these are not young lottery picks. these are guys taken after pick #20. there's a reason they were - they are not alpha dogs. but they can still help a team. walsh should've never openly talked about a 2010 plan but that's a seperate discussion altogether.

what's with all the hate? ur not allowed to make these kinds of comments while praising Nate's game on this thread.

nate = $$$
The NBA planned to release a green Krypto-Nate shirt a few days after Nate Robinson won the Slam Dunk competition in Phoenix, but DC Comics wanted in on the profits.

The plan was scrapped because of intellectual property issues with DC Comics, the originator of the Superman comic books.

The NBA is now looking to involve DC Comics in future Krypto-Nate products, according to a league source

Knicks tell Nate to chill out

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — With Nate Robinson, the difference between a spark and an out-of-control blaze can be a fine line and Saturday night in Miami, he crossed over to the wrong side again.

He confronted Heat big man Jermaine O’Neal and exchanged fourth-quarter words, earning each a technical, after O’Neal gave the littlest Knick an extra shot after a foul on Mario Chalmers was already called.

He also went 0-for-8 with two turnovers in that quarter, his overexuberance prompting coach Mike D’Antoni to briefly yank him, the need for poise outweighing the need for Robinson’s energy.

That energy could be stifled Wednesday against the Hawks because of a sprained left ankle that sidelined Robinson at practice Monday. But D’Antoni knows that stifling the 5-foot-whatever player also means walking a tightrope.

"Nate has his own personal program that he has to get better at," D’Antoni said after running newcomers Larry Hughes and Chris Wilcox through their first full practice since they were acquired Feb. 25.

"That’s one thing that is hard for him because he can get a shot any time he wants. He can be explosive any time he wants, but at the same time he has to play within a team concept. And it’s a fine line."

The same line of which both Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas, Robinson’s previous coaches in New York, often spoke about a player who’s become the Garden crowd’s favorite.

"For the most part [Saturday], I was trying to get in, fit in where I could help my team," Robinson said.

He scored 29 points, giving him 255 in his last nine games (a 28.3 average), but only one in the Knicks’ 17-point final quarter, a technical free throw.

"You can put it all together," D’Antoni said when asked about sitting Robinson. "I just thought he needed a rest or we needed something a little bit different."

The Knicks needed something a little more calm as Wade went wild, scoring 22 points as the Heat overcame a 15-point deficit in the final 8 1/2 minutes after rookie Danilo Gallinari elbowed him.

But calm isn’t Robinson’s forte, as suggested by his team-high eight technicals. No teammate has more than three and D’Antoni has picked up four.

"Coach is going to let me know when I’m out of control," Robinson said.

Saturday, D’Antoni did.

clearly MDA is a hatter.

Didn't say once before that the best thing about Nate is that he can get whatever shot he wants and that the worst thing about him is that he can get whatever shot he wants?

Tom Heinsohn had a great quote like this about Bill Russell (not that Nate's Bill Russell): "The man won 56 college games in a row, 2 NCAA championships, an Olympic Gold Medal, and 11 NBA championships. And they named a ---cking tunnel after Ted Williams."

The highlight of this season will be Nate's pre-slam dunk video where he's playing the violin. Go find it yourself.

Nate has been brilliant at times but the thing is he’s needed to be because no one else is getting shots in rhythm out of great half court possessions. Now you want to tell me that Nate is great because he can score without getting into a possession, fine. But there has to be a combination.

For some reason I really believe Donnie Walsh and Mike D’Antoni aren’t sold on Nate moving forward. D’Antoni was especially gitty last night and maybe that was because his players knew that they won a game with great balance. When Nate is on he’s is electric, he is the star in the spotlight when everyone else is off to the side. These aren’t the best players in the NBA so they really need to work off each other and, sure, they feed off Nate’s energy but far too often guys are standing around watching the Nate show.

Of course, no one can hate on Nate for doing his thing. No one admires the guy as much as I do. He should have legions of fans and he should get paid. He’s incredibly unique.

But I’m a fan of winning basketball, and I’ve seen far too often, playing with a guy who plays MAJOR minutes who’s never seen a shot he won’t take rarely results in winning basketball. There is a niche for the shoot-first guy with no conscience, but there’s a reason those guys should come off the bench and are rarely in the mix down the stretch unless they buy into running half court sets.

So ask yourself, really ask yourself, just how different Nate is from the ball-dominating (no pun intended) guards who have preceded him. I’m honestly not sure how much he is.

Also ask yourself, if you think Nate is interested in staying here and watching his minutes decrease as the talent around him increases over the next few years.

Because that very much could be the case.

Why Nate Must Play

According to basketball-reference.com his 22.4 turnover % after 61 games is well above his career average of 18.3%. In fairness, he is delivering a career high assist % of 29, though it is not as far off from his career average (27.1) as his turnovers.

Moreover, teams appear to have figured out that Duhon has trouble finishing at the rim with his ailing back. Consequently, it has become more difficult to feed David Lee on the screen roll as teams play the passing lanes.

Whatever his other faults, Nate Robinson has a) never been turnover prone, b) has put up decent assist numbers, and c) has been a better than average shooter throughout his career. According to the Knickerblogger stat page Robinson’s 18.4 assist rate compares favorably to other combo guards like Mo Williams (19) and Brandon Roy (18.8).

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand this one. Seems like the media trying to stir things up. Nate is in his ideal role and doing a pretty good job of it. The last 11 games he's averaged 35 minutes per game. The media seems stuck in this 6th grade notion that if you aren't starting somehow you are a loser. Yeesh.

Nate is never going to be a full-time PG, IMO. He's a great 6th man. Not many guys off the bench can go for 17, 4 and 4. Let's keep him in that role and let him excel. What we need to do is to improve the rest of the roster so that we don't need to rely on this guy to be the go to guy or to have to reign in his emotions. On those days when he is off the charts acting like a lunatic, you should be able to just take him out of the game. On the nights when he is under control you can reap the benefits of a great scorer. Rosters always have a way of making role players look worse than they are.

I just hope that people will like me

MDA talking about Nate's "Happy Place" today before the game, talking about how he needs to learn how to control his emotions & remain focused on the floor because that's when he's at his best... do u guys believe me now or am i still a hatter for saying the same thing throughout this thread?

And I liked N8's response after the game:
"Winning sure cures alot of things"

After a win, does anybody truly give a crap about N8 sitting on the floor screaming after he get's the and-one?

And did you notice, how almost every damn story doesn't mention how crappy Duhon played? Yeah, yeah, yeah, beat the dead horse when it's down and has no confidence...

I wonder if there's any chance of Walshamatically getting DRose? Is Krause possibly that stupid?

MVP on the Knicks. Sure, you can have that Earl. Anything more, and you're pushing it, but hey nothing new there.
