this winning attitude should be the precursor for a much better season

loved what i saw from most knicks today. but i really think there's only room for half of franbury on this team. we are paying francis top dollar to play a role we could probably fill for the vet's minimum. i think it's great to surround either steph or steve with ball handlers, but the marginal benefit of a second such player is tiny.

also, jalen is a total waste. would rather play mardy collins if we want ball handling, tentative offense, and passable D.

got the Balkmania. guy is awesome. i was surprised to see he only had 7 and 7, his impact was so much huger than those numbers. he and lee are a great pair, looks like they have a good vibe going.

Q and jamal mostly look good out there. i hope their outside shooting steps up, but they are doing a great job when they look for high percentage shots in close for themselves and teammates. i hope the regular season sees them play jsut a little more conservatively and shooting better from outside. but jamal was amazing when he got hot for a while, and Q does all the little things. oh yeah, jamal needs to learn how to draw a charge and/or flop.

frye looks great on O, had a bad defensive game but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

nate was good. if he keeps adjsuting to being the way smallest guy on the floor on O he'll be really dangerous.

curry i thought had a very good game. he'll probably never be a great defender, but he looked like he was trying out there, doing a notably good job on D on pick plays.

overall i think the team needs to calm down pushing hte ball sometimes. according to nba.com stats the celtics outscored us on fast break points, we turned it a bunch and got beat back down the court for easy buckets. if we're just trying it out in teh preseason and gonna settle down november on, that's cool.

our second unit is awesome. but i have a bad feeling they'll always be playing from behind the way our starters are defending and turning the ball over. we'll see.

my 2.5 cents, g'night

Great job from almoust all Knicks

Jrose is done and I hope gone
Steve is absolutely useless wa..st of space
Marbs is not fitting good in IT offence. He is some kind of overprised role player and he is lost.

If IT will keep playing this system and the team will be successfull this all 3 guys are gone sooner or later.

...people say he shoots too much, then he has a quiet game and he's "not fitting in." what do you want? 20 pts on 4 shots?

It's not about the numbers and shots.
It's about the value of the player on the team
The way Marbs played this 3 games he is not contributed in any way
I hope he will find a way to contribute in real games

I don't think he's turning on the jets very much in the pre. vets and rooks have a much different way of approaching this time. it's good to win now, but I wouldn't go TOO overboard on any of the numbers.

just got home, watched the game at ESPN zone.... I like what I saw, lee and balkman were great, frye and curry were productive and jamal looked good. I agree with the poster earlier, francis and marbury to me is not a good fit, not enough room for both. neither one compliments the other....

i liked what i saw and it's good the knicks are winning - it's a shame we can't see them play against better competition, because it's hard for me to get really excited over wins against kidd and carter-less nets, celtics without pierce, and a poor sixers team. I'm glad we're winning, but I want to see how good our guys look against a decent team before I say they've turned things around completely. Still, these are teams we'd probably lose to last year, so I guess we have improved at least a little.

I thought the Knicks looked alright tonite.
What I liked: Balkman looked really nice, his energy-level is just so high, love it. Crawford played really nice, I think he will the front-runner for 6th man of the year this year. Also, Quentin looked really good in all facets; shooting, rebounding and defense. If he plays 3/4 of this, he will have a really good year.

What I didn't like: Curry looked both good and bad, I'm seriously worried about his rebounding and his conditioning, STILL. I'm really tired of Francis, he never passes and forces all of his shots, I really don't like where this is going with him, he and Marbury WILL clash. Again, I was disappointed in the Knicks defense, the man to man defense just isn't there with this team. Again, the free-throw shooting was deplaurable, they need to fix that.

I didn't get as bad a vibe about Francis as others did. There were moments of gratuitous dribbling but on the whole I don't think he was hogging or doing anything but playing a team game. He also pushed the tempo well by making long lead passes upcourt instead of walking/jogging up with the ball.

Still, it's a bit disconcerting that Francis and Marbury both seem like they're not 100% comfortable in the offense. By comparison Jamal and Nate look much more comfortable and natural.

Really liked Eddy tonight. Looks like the coaching staff is getting through to him about finding the right combination of finesse and power around the basket. Also, finding new ways to score-- that play where a guard drives, draws the D and kicks back to a trailing Curry diving in from the free throw line worked very well repeatedly tonight.

Balkman and Lee are a perfect duo. The thought of them wreaking havoc on the court for us for years and years to come makes me smile.

I think Francis and Marbury are probably going at about 40% right now. They're vets, the season doesn't start for them until Nov 1. Still, Francis looks like crap.

Curry looked GREAT to me. His offensive repetoire is really expanded and he just seems more comfortable on the court and moving from outside the key with the ball. I think summer ball really helped Curry.

From what i saw last night it still looks like its going to be a long season, but with obvious positives.....

Same as last year?
Francis bounds the ball way to much and isn't really that explosive getting by anyone anymore, I think the missed dunk was indicitive of the Stevie we have now.

Crawford still takes horrific shots, off balance way to early in the clock and needs to improve a little

Nate never met a shot he didn't like, which is not what we need.

Impressive
Lee, Balkman, Q is making strides and getting his touch back, still would like him to drop a few more pounds to improve his quickness

FRYE is probably the worst athlete on the team is slow footed and is going to get torched on the defensive end, I think his real position is at center......

RONDO looks like the real deal that guy plays good defense is composed doesn't rush shots and really knows how to get people involved.......He would be a much better player for this team than Nate Robinson that is why not taking passing pgs from winning programs like Williams and Rondo will prove to be a big mistake in the long run
