Okay, so we've got our scapegoats - Ariza and Frye.

People are closing out fast on Frye now and getting a hand in his face. He has to adjust. It's no coincidence that he was on the floor for the 15-6 run that ended regulation though.

Q was guarding Deng/Nocioni not Gordon. I just wanted Qon Gordon on those last shots

Deng/Nocioni combined for 26 points on 8/14 shooting...

And Q only played 27mins. they didn't score those 26 with Q on them is all I'm saying. Oh and Q was primarily on Deng who shot 4/10

[Edited by - gunsnewing on 01-18-2006 11:42 PM]

Nocioni hit plenty of shots over Q. Lee was on Deng a lot and had 2 blocks on him. That means Deng shot 4-8 when Lee wasn't blocking his shot. Q had a good offensive game but was so so on D. Nocioni hit at least one three while Q was supposed to be on him.

not sure. I'll have to rewatch the game but to me it seems Q is our best perimeter defender which isn't saying much anyway

I honestly didn't see much of the Toronto game, but wouldn't Q have been guarding Jalen? And Mo Pete?

dont in thison ariza. i saw steph go after him and specifically pointed out not to foul. we lost this game because of TO's and our young bigs played poorly, specifically Frye. Frye has been bad lately, tonight his assertiveness was poor, he couldnt hit open shots and he looked scared.
he went through this at AZ--some games he looks like all world, then he disappears. he needs more intensity going at the basket and cant rely on that jumper so much

Don't remember that far back but Q did a great job on Wally when he was guarding him. He torched Lee & Crawford though and wound up with 24

edit: Q played only 21mins against Toronto. Lee played 38 and Crawford 34 so it's safe to say they were on Rose/Peterson most of the time

Hey, I'm rooting for Q. I hope he can be a consistent threat on offense but guarding a guy like Wally and guarding a quick little guy like Gordon are two different tasks.

You know, the thing is, if Brown had left Nate on Gordon and he hit that shot, people would be screaming "where was Ariza, Ariza shut down Gordon all game, etc." Gordon hit the shot, that's three game winners he's got against us, he's a clutch player. He makes a shot like that, he's probably gonna hit it over anyone. Tough loss, but the team will be fine.

I would've flipped out as I did when I watched Gordan shoot it right over the 5-9 Nate at the end of regulation. Thats why I wanted Q

I blame marbury, if the knicks lose, its automatically his fualt regardless of what happened.

The Marbury Effect
We lost these games because of missed FTs and defense but the biggest reason was turnovers.
This is why I was feeling so nervous for losing marbury because nate & Craw play with so much fire sometimes they make some terribly senseless turnovers. Marbury was learning to lead us with his play and had really begun to figure things out. Our turnovers were slowly decreasing and finally reached single digits on monday. Today we had 22. A complete reversion. Marbs is our glue. The arguement some may present is that we still had a chance to win without him but this game could have been over during regulation if we could have limited these turnovers.
Check out these numbers. These are all the games we've played this year and look at how the turnovers we're beginning to come under control.

Opponent turnovers VS Knicks turnovers
Suns(3OT)...17- 22
Wizards.....11- 19
Sonics......12- 12
Cavaliers...12- 13
Mavs (OT)...13- 15
Hawks.......16- 15
Raptors ....11- 14
T-wolves....11 - 9

PS. I'm not blaming marbury for the loss. I'm just showing how much better off we are WITH him

Q isn't quick enough. Gordon could have got by him and forced a foul, even with only 4.6 seconds left. Gordon is one of the quickest players in the league.

There's no way Q could hang with Gordon. He's not quick enough.

I actually thought Brown should have put Ariza on Gordon at the end of regulation, but Nate was all over him on that shot. crzy has it right.

Frye is officially slumping. Might be that rookie wall thing, who knows.

Even though Craw put up decent stats, I think he's still in his slump as well. Only one game, but we did not look very good with JC running the offense. He took more bad shots than usual, made some careless bad passes that got picked off. In general I didn't like how the offense looked.

Davis... sure it was his family, but what was he thinking? He could have told a security guard to go check out the situation. Clearly this is a sensitive kind of thing in the NBA right now. I'm expecting a fairly hefty suspension from the league, maybe 5+ games.

Props to Lee. Nice boardwork.

I guess your right about q. anyway according to a quote from davis, he didnt think he had enough time to consult security. Also I think the reaon frye is slumping is becuase he is expanding his game, if you notice he posts up alot more, and tries to create off the dribble alot more. I think thats whats cuasing his fg percentage to drop, but i could be wrong.

now that I will agree with.

watching the replay, Frye hits a huge shot over Chandler inside with 1:20 to go then contests three shots inside and comes away with the rebound. Frye should have come out for the OT instead of Mo T. His outside shot is off, but he is playing well inside.

hey, in the beginning of the season Frye's jumper was a secret weapon. now it's widely known throughout the league. he has to adjust to be able to get his shot off. Chandler was playing him tight on the perimeter with a hand in the face every time he had the ball. Frye will figure it out, he's a tough worker.

Actually, I thought Frye had some good opportunities for his j tonight, chances he would've taken advantage of just a couple of weeks ago. On a couple of jumpers he had good looks and they just rimmed out. A number of other times he had enough time and space to get up a good shot but hesitated and passed it up. Maybe his confidence is down a bit. He'll be fine though.
