So the Yankees have an off day so they will skip Wang's next start and don't have to send him down. Maybe he can work through his problems as a mop up guy without as much pressure on him. If not they really need to determine whether there is something physically wrong with him.
Did you hear that that's what they're doing, or is that just what you want them to do? (I couldn't tell from your post.)

That's what Mike Francesa said they were doing on Mike'D up

I'd rather he actually got some starts in the minors where he could work on whatever he's doing wrong while facing professional hitters. Maybe they're too worried that that would be insulting to him.

they can't send him to the minors b/c he no longer has options. it would have to be with his consent and i don't see his agent agreeing to it, especially since he's a free agent after the season.
Well that sucks. Maybe they can convince him that if he gets everything worked out in the minors, he'll have a better season and get a better contract anyway. I doubt the argument will work though.
Well he seems like an honorable person who would at least consider whatever the team wanted.

That said, you can play tough with him too.
"Whether you go down to the minors or not, Hughes is making your next two starts. And if he pitches well and if you're not in the minors and successfully fixing things, then it's his spot to keep for the year. And you'll enter free agency having finished the year with an MLB record of 0-3, with a 28 ERA." You think his agent would rethink his position then?!

greinke is also a headcase who would've crumbled in ny.

I've told TMS that many times.

TMS, I'm not trying to rag on you with that statement, but as I've said to you before, Greinke has an extreme case of social anxiety disorder - he would crumble under the pressure in NY.

i'd give up Hughes & Kennedy for him right now if i could.

hughes and kennedy are both lighting up AAA. true greinke is a stud but i agree with the others, putting him in NY would be a complete crap shoot.

Well thats your perogative, but I'm telling you it would be a bad mistake. The dude has mental problems, you don't put someone with mental problems on the mound pitching for the yankees in NYC and expect positive results.

3 games? ur kidding me right? apparently Kennedy & Hughes have social anxiety disorder too cuz neither one have pitched well in NY & i have more than a 3 game sample to work off of... this is a silly argument... IMO Dayton Moore would be the one making the mistake trading his ace to NY for 2 unproven kids, & Cashman would be a fool to pass it up.

TMS, it was a stat worth throwing out there. Hey, I'm not trying to say I don't agree with your assessment that Greinke is a young kid with good stuff, I just don't think you'd get the same pitcher here. It would really be too much for him, which is probably why he's happy to stick with the Royals for less money.

just like w/any acquisition they all come w/concerns & no one knows how anyone will perform in NY... so far Mark Teix hasn't done much his first few weeks but we're obviously not gonna go off that short of a sample either, & he's about as grounded & well balanced of a player as i've seen come through here in a long time... ARod's got issues of his own but he still manages to put up big numbers every year, even tho in postseason it's a different story... then we had guys who liked to go out & get drunk before games like Boomer Wells & the Babe, & those guys never had a problem performing in big games... u just never know... what i do know is that Greinke has better stuff than just about 95% of the pitchers in baseball & i would love to see what he could do as a member of the Yankees... doesn't matter cuz we'll probably never get him for at least 3 more years now that he's locked up to a contract, but i wouldn't be surprised 1 bit to see this kid win multiple Cy Youngs in his major league career.

I agree with you that we don't know TMS, but none of those guys had to miss an entire season due to a mental problem.

You're right, it doesn't matter, because I doubt the guy ever leaves KC. Oh well.

There was a lot of talk last year that we were trying to acquire Grienke at the trade deadline.

Moore was probably asking for the moon... they managed to buy out his 2 remaining arbitration years & his 2 free agency years til 2012 at a very reasonable salary... very smart proactive move by the Royals.

YANKEES MAY SKIP STRUGGLING WANG

Chien-Ming Wang's next start remains in jeopardy, as manager Joe Girardi said the team has not determined what to do with the struggling righty.

"We have not made a decision yet," Girardi said.

The Yankees have an off-day Thursday, so they can skip Wang's scheduled Friday start without disrupting the rotation. The next time they'd need a fifth starter would be April 28 against Detroit.

Girardi, who insisted Wang wasn't hurt, said the Yankees "had a lot of healthy discussion" yesterday and looked at Wang's mechanics.

The manager said there are "some adjustments that we need to make with him."

Wang is 0-3 with a 34.50 ERA in three starts.

There could be a resolution on Xavier Nady's ailing right elbow today, and the Yankees are encouraged the outfielder can avoid surgery. Nady, too, is optimistic.

"I think I hopefully can avoid it and try to obviously strengthen it," Nady said. He was not sure what the timetable would be on his rehabilitation if he does not require surgery.

nady won't need surgery - out 4-6 weeks.

wang will pitch a simulated game in tampa and then will be re-evaluated.

Wishes the Yanks would have bit the bullet and rebuilt. This free agent cherry picking has seen us revert back to the late-80s early 90s for all intents and purposes. Yanks havent had a good feel to them since A-Rod came.

New stadium sucks. How are you going to build a billion dollar stadium and have such monstrous obstructions like not being able to see left field from the right field bleachers.

C'mon pinstripes!
