He would look even better playing with actual NBA players too. I have also been impressed by Skappy’s improvement. I think he is ready to be a 3rd string center. I think it’s time for him to practice against NBA players now. I bleed orange and blue for life.

![]() I don’t even know why Ian is taking a shot at who the backup PG minutes will go to when no one on the Knicks coaching staff has seen any of these new players with the team and the draft, free agency, and SL was a hot minute ago.
Those Hot Hand nerds are getting into an oddly worded intellifaux lather about something Ian prob came up with on the ****ter after some tasty tacos found at the buffet right outside the champagne room last night after he and the beat boys hit the clurrrbs. What gives? Clean wrote:Tweet was deleted or there was problem with the URL: Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program

Begley may have assumed on Payne's (PT) based on his T-Jones comments but him coming back and saying Kolek is the Brunson back-up (#2 PG) is obviously coming from a source and I find it interesting. I would have assumed Payne gets the nod but at the same time the one thing most of us agreed on was that we need another ball handler to break down the D and get into the paint. Kolek obviously does those 2 things well and Begley re-clarifying this quickly is an obvious indication Knicks want this made clear. Really if you think us having solid shooters like Deuce, Donte, OG, Mikel - etc. someone like Kolek could have a field day feeding and creating. The other thing I was thinking is if Mitch was in fact moved to bench (post a center trade) - Kolek could open up the lob game for him in ways Brunson may not. I still like the Payne addition and his scoring / shooting but this Begley stuff really seems to indicate Knicks heavily invested in a true PG off bench. |

I take this more as they are enthusiastic about what Kolek showed in the short summer league. Like, wow, if we knew Kolek was going to show this kind of play, we might have not needed Payne. But, I think this is not someone with actual FO/Coaching Staff knowledge - more like a scout or something. And when everything is said and down, I think Kolek is going to need a year or two to get up to speed and build the knowledge of the NBA game to get real playing time. |

The backup PG mins will essentially be deuce and Donte. Payne and kolek only come into play if someone is hurt. Thibs isn’t going to 10 guys in the rotation. He may barely go to 9 given hart and Donte will both get 30 mins each. |
