I refuse to believe that Leon Rose has not considered this when making the OG trade. Fact of the matter is that this front office has revealed exactly zero percent of what they have actually been thinking or doing. Literally zero of their moves were reported in advance. Who has knowledge on Johnnie Bryant’s postions. I see a dearth of real information in the marketplace and a lot of guys who make their living by being in the know making educated guesses about what’s happening. Because OG hasn’t signed yet we can surmise he isn’t happy with the Knicks offer. Windy makes that statement and some no name says “oh yeah, that’s what my internal sources tell me also”. I am calling bull****.

I actually think that OG exercises the player option at the deadline and takes the major extension in August. Not thrilled, but it the optimal efficiency move and the Knicks can make the economics match regardless. We’ve seen every core player for the Knicks make some form of concession to the salary cap in order to be part of the Knicks long term plans. Only question I have is whether OG wants to be part of the long term plans or if he thinks he can be the star of his own show. I think he wants to be here but I have no basis to say that other than the effort he leaves on the court.

Philly could make a lot of sense, but they seem to be focused on a 3rd scorer. Maybe they make a run on PG or Butler. Maybe they make a run on Miles Bridges. If I was Philly I'd be going all out to add OG to Maxey and Embiid because that to me was the piece that tipped the scales to the Knicks.

Still I think 35-40mm is where realistically he should be. I think if Indy let Siakam make the market, he's probably not clearing 40. Would Detroit have shown him the bag to play there and be the star next to Cade? I dunno.

Now one player they kind of skip over, but I think makes sense for the 8-12 min backup role behind Brunson is Cam Payne. He can run an offense and he can knock down a 3 despite his weird lefty shot. He is a pest and probably makes sense for a small role.

He's a good guy to be OG insurance. When OG is healthy that guy might not even play. When OG is hurt he probably gets thrust into a sizable role. Hard to find guys who fit that scenario where you don't have to play them every night but they can do a good job being OG-lite when they do play for stretches. Okoro makes sense. I think rookies also make sense for that role.
