Precious 100% should have played this game. Thibs made poor decisions most of the game, and started DDV in both halves, despite it not working either time. He doesn't call time up after the 4-point play, then again when we go for our last possession with 8 seconds left to bring it to half-court. We made the same mistake they did in Game 2, both were poor coaching decisions and losses. Also, you double Maxey and make anyone else make shots. This was avoidable and this team needed the rest with only 7 deep without Precious. 8 missed FTs, 14 TOs most unforced, terrible half and quarter starts. When we finally had the game in hand, they gave it away. I don't blame JB for that big TO, what else is he going to do when no one else comes to be a shooter? I don't blame Hart's missed FT, we wouldn't have got the lead and cushion without his points in the 2nd half and rebounds. Even injury-free, this team has no offensive consistent threat at C, and with Bogey out for the season, no shooter heater on the bench. DDV is killing us from 3, 1-7. We are forcing Hart to take too many 3s, 1-6. Even McBride was off tonight from downtown, 2-7, that is 4-20 from deep for those 3s or 20%.
If the opponent has 16 TOs and also shoots terribly from the stripe, and we have 10 steals, you should win those games. Most balls bounced their way, Embiid finally played D like his team's season was on the line, so, on to Game 6, unfortunately. Tough loss that will leave a horrible feeling in my gut for days.
