He look aight. Hard to gauge because it still looks like a pre-season game.

He looked like a superstar to me.... at least on offense.

Most impressive aspect was his outside shot. From what I saw in pre draft scouting, he was just a high motor finisher around the basket. Kid has high level skills. Warriors get yet another good draft talent.

Irving and KD could not miss in first quarter. Opened up a comfortable lead and Nets never looked back. True that KD did not have the fluidity on his moves to the basket. But he still showed why he was one of the best players on the planet. Kyrie was impressive and looked like he did with the Cavs. Think he feels much more comfortable having less pressure with another superstar next to him. Nets bench also looked strong. That starting line up with Dinwiddie and Harris will be tough.

Nets will be near unstoppable on offense...they have 2 of the best scorers in the league and they are deep. Only questions about them is hoq locked-in will they be on the defensive end and will they stay healthy. Kyrie and Levert seem to always miss time at some point during a season injury and Durant is obviously coming off a major injury...

Kyrie is bat **** crazy perhaps but most of his ex-teammates complain publicly at least. from what I see he puts his heart into it on the court and while fans in Boston were lining him up to drive to the airport (Bill Simmons) he took his share of blame in stride. He impresses me with his on court play.
Injury prone yes.
What made them was not him and Durant, it was Lavert,, Allen, Dinwiddie and Harris already there. Net Fans were pretty happy with that core and then adding Kevin and Kyrie must have been sweet. That for now that core supports that tandem is an envious formula in the Starphuch realm. I agree the window is small but so I thought was Lakers and on paper they are improved this year.
Vs. Knicks, jeez if Nash suited up he’d be our best PG even at his age.
IM not in NYC so I Don’t hate on them as some of you do. To me they are any other east team better than we are for the moment. We won’t lose every game and Thibs will have our guys playing tough. Knicks Journey is their own..

I very much dislike the perspective but if Durant and Irving are healthy they can be finalist.
They have however a very narrow window of contention. I think it's this year or bust for them.

Why?

What makes them very dangerous IMO is that they have quality players to surround their 2 stars. Dinwiddie, Allen are restricted next year and are due for a big payday. They won't be able to keep them. They already have a large payroll this year.
Plus, their 2 stars will be one year older. I may be wrong but I don't see it past this year.

I think a narrow window could be the outcome based on Durant's health, Kyrie's head, and economics. Those two keep it together mentally and physically then it's a longer window. I'd like the Nets to do poorly because I find KD and Kyrie unlikable. And for the bandwagon media that loves on the Nets simply as another form of Knicks hate. But they used to be my second favorite team -- a distant second mind you but I always pulled for them. So for me it isn't directly due to proximity.

I think Durant and Irving with marginal role players cannot beat the west's powerhouses. With the depth they have this year, they could win it all.

Could be right on all accounts. They got good depth this year and I wonder how good the spacing will be with LaVert and Dinwiddle.

And considering the extensions and whatnot, wonder if they look towards The Beard

This makes draft picks, especially the ones we control with our record, very important. I really hope we improve a lot this season, but a top pick in a draft with many possible franchise players is more significant.

Media and our history has many of us conditioned to seek only free agent as our only path. NO quick fix turns this around except in breed talent.

I get this in theory.

I just don’t see how they add assets without taking really crappy deals, and there aren’t as many crappy deals as their use to be that aren’t outright hideous. When is the last time a team got good assets for taking on crappy players? At best teams just shuffle them for other pieces. Like even the CP3 deal (where he was thought to be an overpay) involved sending back a recent MVP in Westbrook to get assets. Teams are only sending out pick hauls for Stars.

Plus The Knicks got to start paying people sooner than later. Let’s say they keep Noel, Frank, and/or DSJ on reasonable deals. ok that’s less money going into next year which is the year we got to extend Mitch. ideally the Knicks would add some decent or good FA and then they could have gone over the cap to keep people. Next free agency is not looking particularly good to do that.

The algorithm gives and the algorithm takes away

This game looked like a run through for the Nets and KD looked good. It would've been different if he did this against a healthy Draymond. I want to see how he looks when there are real stakes and he has Kawhi on him. Still, he looked encouraging.

The Hornets will find their groove. Every Cleveland win is a plus!
