Healthy we aren't close to the Heat. They are disciplined and play trully suffocating defense. They are also trully championship contenders.

We are pretenders right now. We pretend Melo and Amare can co-exist when their play shows otherwise. We pretend we can defend like warriors when Amar'e plays none. We pretend we are a piece away but we fail to value having a true plan and having the pieces to execute it.

Melo is an amazing talent, but he needs to be led instead of leading the way. Amar'e had a horrible year on and off court, yet two things really stand out: his fragility and his lost leadership since Melo arrived. Lin had an unreal month, but is he really a special player that can be a star in an 82+playoffs season? Will Shumpert recover and be the defensive star he is? Will he round his game instead of simply being a defensive spciallist? How can we replenis the bench? And more importantly, wh will coach us?

This team has more questions than those. Truth is, after our lowest poing under Layden and Isiah, the turnaround has been a mediocre team that will find it hard to make the moves to become contenders.

They are not nearly as good as SA and OKC

I agree, at least Smith can play D. My problem was with his shot selection. It looked like JR had a green light to jack up shots. It negated what Smith brought to the table.

I still believe in stat...he definitely needs more touches though. Him taking less then 10 shots is ridiculous. Even bosh sees more opportunities.

50+ wins? EFC? More like, WTF. Next year's team has A LOT to do before they can even replicate this year's regular season success. Can we replenish the team? Can we get a coach solid on both ends of the court?

Meanwhile, watching the Grizz, Zach Randolph is much better than Amare, and that is SAD.

I can pencil in Mike Bibby not retiring if Woodsons back at the helms. BTW Props to the 50 Y/O Bibby man, I like what I saw and didnt expect much either.

Its hard to get him touches. He had/has no perimeter game anymore - if he catches too far from the basket and tries to make a move, its a turnover or an offensive foul. He is best in a PnR but with no PG that aint easy.

What he did to them in game 3 was unforgivable! Unless ... he is a monster next year

Did they guys in the postgame say the Knicks don't know how to run a zone??? I knew how to run a zone in Jr High! Not being able to run a simple zone falls on the coach. How are you not prepared the whole year to run a zone? Especially knowing that is what won the Mavs the ring last year.

That's all on Woodbury. He needs to start paying more attention to defense.

Randolph would be a nice fit with Melo.

I fell into liking amare. BUT Zach is more fundamentally sound in the game. I miss him at times, it just shows the right system or right guys around you change your perception of what others value you. WE HAD ZACH! I also saw how you pointed out that the lost leadership of amare. MAN thats huge. Amare is so vocal and emotional you can see he is being candid, while melo seems like he goes through PR people or just out of it attitude. I enjoy when amare is showing that leadership role but i think if you dont show that on the court how can people look up to you. Hes playing bully ball playing defense etc., the team will respect him and listen.

Remember the Knicks were rumored to be willing to trade the 6th pick to move Zach and his contract.

I missed the game followed it on line. The runs just before the end of quarters killed the Knicks. JR Smith pretty much put the dagger in the season and twisted it right before Half time.
