Well, I was the opposite and said he would be a mix between k's love and at worst, charles oakley.

The only footage of Jorts I'd seen before the draft:

And I still love it!

i like Lin on the roster as a project. but he's not looking ready for prime time.

though novak did just bail him out to get him an assist.

Worst stint I've ever seen Lin play out of all of the games I've ever seen him in, although it was only 3 minutes. Did not show the offensive or defensive game that I have watched many times before. My assumption is he is pressing.

How many games have you seen him play at this level??

I have seen Lin play all but a few of his Warrior games (preseason and regular), both Rockets preseason games, all of his D-League games (which frankly are often not any worse than NBA garbage time), and of course all 3 of his brief Knicks appearances. Taking another look at his play, he needs to work on backing down tiny guards (he has 6 or 7 inches on Thomas) and dribble posting (he actually scored in the post a few times over smaller guards in D-League).

This performance reminded me of Lin's game versus John Wall, except this time Lin was Wall. My guess is that Wall underestimated Lin, and then when Lin started embarrassing him, Wall pressed, and Lin outplayed him even more. This time, perhaps Lin underestimated Thomas or didn't know his game, so he tried to split the double-team like he has regularly successfully done against other slower guards. Then when Thomas began outplaying Lin, Lin began pressing and played even worse. The only positive I could find was that Lin as usual was scrappy on loose balls and did not give up on plays. Maybe Thomas is the Lin-stopper.

I would add that Jimmer did not look much better than Lin on Sat. night, and I have a feeling Thomas would've eaten's Jimmer's lunch too had Jimmer been put in Lin's position. I am comparing the two only because of their comparable NBA experience when you look at minutes played (Fredette actually has gotten more consistent playing time/longer stints with starters). At this stage of his career, Lin's game probably translates better against the likes of Evans, Thornton, and Fredette than a guy like Thomas, as Lin has matched up against other NBA starters and looked alot better than he did last night.

I'm sure it's been said: Fredette reminds me of a hobbit. Ridnour's twin hobbit.

I think Fields would excel off the bench. He's not as effective playing with Amare & Melo

Amar'e and Melo need to elevate (in a sophisticated way) their games to run with Fields.

The recognition of doing what the team needs to succeed is more important than any one individual. Hand down, man down. Find and feed the cutter. Get that rebound!

there is no need for these guys to put up contested shots against double teams. Hit the open man!

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

True but it goes both ways - hes gotta man up and go get his. Not just cuddle up and be passive when they are both on the floor. Lets hope they involve him more.

The Knicks beat the Kings so bad last night, DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded:

_________________________________________________________________________________________

http://www.nba.com/kings/news/westphal_statement_2012_01_01.html

STATEMENT FROM KINGS HEAD COACH PAUL WESTPHAL
SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Jan. 1, 2012 -- “Whenever a new season begins, in any sport, there is great hope that everything will progress in only a steady, upward direction. As we all know, it seldom happens like that in this life!

As coaches, we can only ask that our players do everything they can to improve themselves as individuals and teammates. If they do this with all their hearts, we live with the results.

Everything that happens on a team does not become known to the public. This is how it should be. However, when a player continually, aggressively, lets it be known that he is unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely.

DeMarcus Cousins has demanded to be traded. In the best interest of our team as we go forward, he has been directed by me, with the support of management, to stay home from the New Orleans game tonight.”

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!
