Shump is def missed tonight, heck we missed fish lips on the defense. Offense was basically ISo plays. Td and Landry lack court vision and can't pass or penetrate, so no ball movement.

the Knicks need to figure out how to get a decent Perimeter player with some vision on the roster NOW

They might be good, but they aren't defensive dynamos

Our Stars were off from the field and line..Add to that none of our guards can penetrate at all. It happens sometimes. 2nd game of season.

You're right, I should just accept the fact the Knicks failed to take advantage of a team lacking size and their best player

So you're telling me you expected the Knicks to go 66 and 0. Or to not lay a few stinkers here or there in a shortened lockout season with no real training camp. Or for them not to look shaky on offense with their starting PG and dynamic rookie guard injured.

And Curry being their best player is up for debate. Monta Ellis is still a beast. Monta Ellis vs. any of the guards on our team today is a huge advantage. I mean even Ish Smith is an advantage for them.

What u guys see as Toney Douglas's downfalls I look as opportunities once Baron Davis gets healthy. Lots of easy points were missed today because of the lack of a competent PG. We will be fine barring Baron gets and stays healthy.

Yes, that's exactly what I said.

The difference with Miami's big 3 is that they are athletic play makers that play both ends. Amari and Melo might be better offensive players, but since they are not in the same class as the top athletes in the NBA, then you surround them with Athletes, not one dimensional shooters to fit system.

LOL funny game.

GSW doubled Melo and our offense imploded. Melo forcing shots and telegraphing passes. Amare trying to do to much and turning the ball over like last year. We need a PG so we can fully utilize Melo and Amare. Hell I'd kill for Duhon at this point.

Our "guards" are a JOKE. No consistent offense from our guards at all. Douglas is an ideal 6th man. He shouldnt be starting. Fields isnt a SG either.

Shumpert will likely be starting by the all star break.

It looks like Shumps injury is much more impactful then we understood. He got into the paint at will in game one. Fields drove to the basket for that one dunk and that was about it for the whole game.

So true...but when your stars shoot poor you can't win. Carmelo and Amare were horrible tonight.

Also Missed Free Throws were our doom today..we never extended our leads with wasted trips at the line. That can be demoralizing.

The lack of focus on defense is terrible. This isn't even a Mike D team. There is no crisp ball movement. This is bring the ball down, pass it and shoot it.

Offense is terrible. Defense has ADD. MESS.

well, talk about over-reacting

Well, of course Im mad at the game. But now that its over, I can tell you this without really trying to overreact:

This team needs to find a way, anyway, to make its offense flow. The system is too dependent on crisp PG play and we won't have that for probably months. The best the Knicks have had in the past seasons was Mike D's offense, which hasn't shown so far. Walking down the floor and passing the ball and letting Melo and Amar'e shoot jumpers won't take us anywhere.

I hated the fact that we hung our heads and simply didn't even try on defense. Tonight we looked as poorly coached as ever. Chandler's play is a little alarming, but the problem that keeps popping up its the PG play, and that has no quick solution.

That's what really worries me. In a shortened season, things can unravel quickly.

Douglas needs to be completely benched.

Bibby should start, Lin should get a shot at backup.

Also give Jerome Jordan a chance.

The Same Big 3 that got saved by a rookie PG this weekend? The same Big 3 that almost lost to the Bobcats tonight. We are making too much out of one game. A point guard fixes all are aches. Also Melo was way off tonight. That won't happen most nights.

Melo was off, yeah. But look closely. Our frontline depends on good guard play, which we haven't had.

Melo doesn't suffer from bad guard play as much as the others. Double him and you kill our offense right now. A Mike D' team with no PG to run the offense is exactly what we saw tonight.

Agreed on Jerome Jordan. Was calling for him (to get a look) in preseason. Enough of the Josh Harrelson experiment. And what was up with the lineup of Bibby, Douglas, Walker, Melo and Amare line up in the 4th?

I think Melo was defended differently tonight also and that was part of the problem. Point guard play certainly needs to improve but the Knicks were outhustled, outworked and outcoached.

The difference is the Knicks don't have Lebron. Lebron and Wade have pure blow by speed with the ability to finish OVER players at the rim. When their jumper isnt falling they can put the ball on the floor and get to line consistently.
