You are still so biased because you hated the trade. There should be a Nuggets forum somewhere.

Besides after the team had one practice we have to expect perfection? Come on. Any reasonable fan has to expect there to be some tough adjustments. Guys are gonna revert to ISO when they are pressed defensively. It's gonna take time to trust the offense.

Our offense is going to be more ISO now the way this team is constituted. Don't believe that what you saw is an aberration.

Guys got their scoring stud when we got Melo, but he does not play D, he is a Diva on offense, and until fans understand the nature of his game, or Melo makes a real effort to change his game, what you have seen the past two games with Melo is pretty much what you are going to get.

They don't even know the offense yet. There are over a hundred plays and there's no way they got to learn all of that much less perfect any of it. It's gonna take more time than we actually have left for this group to master this system. I don't think any of us can say that Melo won't eventually buy in and make some changes in his game. I saw him do it a few times in this game, but it's gonna take more than one practice to get the hang of it. NY fans are so impatient that it's just ridiculous.

Listen, you have to coach to your strengths not your weaknesses. I don't know how none of you see this. This team doesn't have good defenders, but with a smaller lineup we can push the pace and shoot 3s'. We will outscore the other team, which is what you need to do to win games. How does SHelden Wlliams help us do that?

Sorry to say I told you so....But I knew this trade will not fix any holes we had. We already have a closer in Amari....Without a defensive big and a defensive 2 guard, we will continue to loose these types of games.

This has nothing to do with practice... continues to put our players in bad situations on defense, with his matchups. He thinks these matchups works on offense, but if you have to work so hard on defense, because you have SGs guarding SF's....SF's guarding PF's, and PF's guarding Centers?

WTF is that....Whats the point in looking for a center, when all is going to do is put in the same sorry small lineup in crunch time, so we can be out matched on defense....And have tired legs on offense.

I get any other coach wouldv'e rotated Shelden Williams and Brewer in the game for some defense....And let Amari, Melo and Billups worry about offense....Whats so hard?

Also, JJ is not the answer....But he will help slightly, like during games like this. Sad day for Knicks fans and knick players...time to get a drink!!!!!!!

Balkman, Turiaf and Jared can't shoot. Please take that nonsense somewhere else.

You must be talking to .....If so, I agree!

You made a dumb statement. Mike plays guys that don't shoot well. He played 2 of them in this game and he's looking to bring back a guy that played a lot of minutes in Jared and he can't shoot.

It's not who Mike plays it's his system that sucks. All Melo and Amare have to do is pull the trigger and he is gone.

Maybe he will feel more comfortable putting Shelden in on Sunday. He's going with the guys he knows or feels more comfortable with. Yes Williams can shoot and it's necessary to spread the floor. I'd have to see who else was on the floor with him to know if he was trying to balance the floor, which would make sense for how we play.

Thing is that Williams and Turiaf have to board if they're in there. Same with STAT. The spread offense does mean that you have a harder time getting Offensive rebounds. There's no excuse on the defensive boards tho. Everyone needs to help on the boards including Walker.

Papabear Says

We need some big men in here now!!! Small game don't work. Cleveland was scoring at will. the sorriest team in the league. We need a defensive minded coach in here right away. Mike will never get us to the finals. He is a gambler. he gambles on that damn 3 point range. We are a poor rebounding team. Mikes plan will not work here.

Mike is a good coach. He has his system and will teach it to the newcomers. The system is fine. He developed some very good young players who weren't as good before they came here. His system also depends on team play and execution. For that you need practices. They have had one practice. You have to give it time.

Melo will get it. Also need to give him time. He came here to win and he knows that he needs to make changes in his game, both on offense and defense. He will "get it" but it takes some practice.

The other side to this is that Melo is a superstar. He has the talent and will score in so many different ways. He is fine as a player. Mike D needs to tweak his system a little so we have a balance of crisp ball movement and some isos were Melo posts up and scores.

Melo didn't look like he was playing his game last night. We need to take advantage of his strenghts without gutting the system and especially the ood ball movement.

Knicksfan - what is the point of hoisting 25 shots a night if you cannot stop anyone?

Melo is NOT a superstar. He is a volume shooter in the mode of Dominique Wilkins and Joe Johnson. Both played inconsistent defense.

'Nique never won a ring either.

Joe Johnson will never win a ring.

What does everyone think of Fields play last night?

I am wondering if it would have been smarter to ship him off instead of Gallo or Chandler if that was possible. I like the guy but feel he is a little overrated. With our lack of size I see his production dropping. Maybe once the team gels he will pick it up.

Do you guys watch the games or are you just catching highlights on ESPN?

D'ANTONI DOES NOT CARE ABOUT DEFENSE AS MUCH AS HE DOES ABOUT OFFENSE. AND ITS BLATANTLY OBVIOUS.

Then why does Mike want Jeffries back? All MDA's comments are that he wants Jeffries because he plays very good defense. We all know that Jeffries can't shoot well.

Do you read, or do you just surf YouTube all day?

I said he doesn't care about defense AS MUCH as he does about offense.

Not as impatient as the folks who signed on in the positive to a "we be NBA finalists" post after the Bucks game.

Billups will make some changes, but it is more likely that MDA makes changes to accommodate MeloDiva, and not the opposite. Problem is that they play at around the same range from the basket. Probably see some screens set for Melo so he can take some uncontested 15 ft jumpers, but we are more likely to see him and Amare going ISO.

Fields does better as the guys around him play unselfish team ball. Gallo has shown an ability, especially this year, to take things into his own hands if teammates are not giving him a look (15/17 from the line last night, by the way).

I love Fields, but folks who think he is better than Gallo are wrong.

The issue (one brought up by many before me) between the two is how they mesh with Melo. Fields can play at the 2 or 3, but it is a stretch for Gallo to play the 2.

The pre-trade offense game Fields more room to cut through the middle- our new offense is more packed in, with certain guys who are less likely to kick the ball out if they are stifled down low.

Word. Honeymoon is already over. Old team was way better. Melo is a ball hog and flow killer. THis has been a downgrade thus far.

Still, it is early. Chemistry should improve before the playoffs. Billups is a bright spot.

Amar'e, Melo, Amar'e, Melo, Amar'e, Melo, that's the pattern we can expect, all iso, taking turns. Garbage.

I think D'Antoni wants Jeffries back because he doesn't need to be coached to play defense, he is just a good defensive player. D'Antoni is also very comfortable with him. It is kind of weird that both Balkman and Jeffries, the guys that Isiah brought into address the teams defensive deficits are back. I don't think it is a good thing.
