nate's recent play of late shows how much this team would've been better off letting steph be steph this season. after removing crawford, if they let steph run the point, this team would probably be in the playoffs right now.

djsu - It may not be so simple as removing one puzzle part and inserting another.

These men are not trading cards, they are people who interact in subtle and not-so-subtle ways on and off the court.

The Marbury influence on the roster and rotations is impossible to retrofit. The rearview look back to November may be entertaining and even sentimental - but not necessarily chemically accurate. Just like a pebble creating ripples in a pond, Just one skewed glance from Marbury to Gallinari or Chandler might have changed the course of Knicks history on any particular day.

"Hey Nate, I got your green basketball right here!"

Who knows if Nate would not have busted Stephon upside the head in the back of the shuttle bus from the airport?

One thing is certain - Marbury ain't here.

Do you really think he is missed by his former team members?

I actually think Nate has stopped most of his showboating. That crap when he posed under the rim after a dunk when we were losing by 25 a few years ago was show boating.

Nate is playing like a man possessed and its winning us games. I think mostly what your seeing is just energy and excitement. Dude cant contain himself and its tranlating into great play.

i still don't think Nate can control his excitement regardless if the team's making a comeback in a close game or if we're up to 25, as long as he's doing something on the court to draw attention to himself... that's the only tiny criticism that i have about Nate's game.

i love the guy, trust... him, Lee, Harrington, Duhon & Chandler make games worth watching these days for me when my interest in this team had reached an alltime low after last season... even still we gotta face facts here, we're still 8 games below .500... this team still has a long ways to go before we can start talking about being a viable contender in this league... for now Nate's level of play has been astounding, but how much better do u think he's gonna get that will raise this team to where we wanna get to in a couple years? we still need at least 1 max star if not 2 to even start talking about being in the Finals again if u ask me, even with Nate & Lee playing at their best.

Would we have enough money for Nate + Lee + Joe Johnson? I think that's what we'll have to figure out.

only if we trade Curry & Fishlips for expiring contracts next year... basically, not a realistic scenario.

Some people seem to forget that basketball is entertainment. I'm sure it's easy to forget that in Atlanta or Memphis, but not in NYC or LA.

Nate's energy is unmatched by anyone on this team, it's not even close.

He plays with a chip on his shoulder and he celebrates when his energy accomplishes somethine spectacular, which he does on a regular basis now.

There are whiners here who seem to forget that Mark Jackson was famous for his shimy celebrations, that Q looks like a complete bonehead running down the court pumping his fist w 3 fingers out everytime he hits a 3 after going 1-8.

Jon Starks had the energy and celebrations, and even Ewing to some extent.

And then of course there was Sprewell...

And it's nice to see one of the KNICKS players slapping 5s with the fans after a great basket, then Reggie Miller trash talking Spike Lee as he heads down the court.

Nate is a keeper, he is pure energy, that energy is being harnassed, he has come a long way since Larry Brown tried to neuter him and Ariza...

I'll take a Nate over an Allan Houston type anyday...I watch basketball to be entertained, and as long as Nate isn't be T'd up, or making boneheaded turnovers, then he can be Nate all he wants.

I wouldn't trade him or Lee, especially not to just get rid of Jeffries.

Meanwhile...hopefully Larry Hughes remembers how to play basketball soon...

Two Knicks Who Are Worth Keeping

"As a rookie in 2006, Robinson was derided by his former coach Larry Brown as a circus act after he won his first slam dunk contest during All-Star Weekend. Brown acknowledged Robinson’s explosiveness but somehow expected a player who is generously listed at 5 feet 9 inches to harness it on demand. It takes time. It takes effort. With Robinson beginning to string together nights when no one seems capable of guarding him, evidence is mounting that he has the will and the work ethic to be more than the novelty act Brown and others were ready to dismiss him as."

My boy Hughes thinks that Nate's emergence is stifling the growth of other guys who should be developing

The dude has taken his game to the next level in one fraction of a season

A monster has been created. Not just a scoring monster. A monster who rebounds and drops a few dimes along the way.

What now?

our entire team is made up of 2nd & 3rd option type players (Nate, Al, Chandler, Hughes, etc.)... we need a star to put these guys around... Nate's trying his best & i give him props but look at our record... we're now 11 games under .500, has it hit home yet guys? we gotta get at least 1 big time player in here if not 2 or else we'll never be anything more than a mediocre also ran.

from tonight's game u can still see that Nate still has a long ways to go in terms of his mental maturation... his game is progressing nicely... hopefully his head catches up sometime in the near future.

yes, nate's an idiot. but i still don't understand the hate for him. he's put in this role to carry the team offensively b/c duhon can't score, hughes is a straight up scrub, wilson is inconsistent and jeffries has hands of stone. ok, he's a bonehead but is that reason enough to get rid of him? you keep him and work with him. slot him into the role he should be in as a 6th man. but it's all moot b/c he won't be here next season anyway.

the team is full of role-players. can't expect them to win big. these are not young lottery picks. these are guys taken after pick #20. there's a reason they were - they are not alpha dogs. but they can still help a team. walsh should've never openly talked about a 2010 plan but that's a seperate discussion altogether.

This is really a stupid post. Nate Robinson is a great sixth man --- one of the best in the game. The guy if fiery so you could have small incidents from time to time. If I can remember guys like Dennis Rodman Rasheed Wallace Laimbeer etc.. are much worse than Nate and have won multiple championships. He can also be moved to starting PG which I cant believe was not explored further after his near triple double. Am I crazy or did Nate have 29-8-4 off the bench last night shooting at 55% EFG? If he was hot--blame the frikin coach for putting him back in. Mike D is a brutal end of game coach. He needs to go to a Jim Calhoun session on how to coach a team in the final 3:00.

The funny part is the Nate haters have been waiting to pounce but he has given them any ammunition. Think about it--people are complaning after he went 29-8-4 off the bench When Nate was hot he shouldve been taken out and sat the rest of the way Mike D didnt do that--thats on him.

Absolutely! I mean a 6-5 team who just last 2 games badly and was skidding after facing the easiest part of the entire schedule against not only bad teams but badly injured teams was CLEARLY going to push ahead and win 45, 50 games! Crawful and Zach were going to be co-MVPs. No doubt about it. 23 win teams without any changes always triple their output and take the league by storm. Walsh is so dumb he ruined Isiah's five-franchise-cornerstone starting lineup. I shake my head in disbelief! What a disaster. Who does Walsh think he is dismantling that dynasty? Washed up old fool.
