Why is Matsui out? Just because he's slumping?

Is AJ usually A LOT worse pitching out of the stretch or was this an anomaly?

Who will lead the team in ERA at the end of the season? My bet is on Nick Swisher!

looks like nady's done for the season. felt a sharp pain in his elbow last night (he had tommy john surgery).

i still wish we didn't make that betemit for swisher deal. wilson is much needed now.

Hughes is not the guy u want waiting for long relief stints... he needs regular innings on regular rest... we will probably be calling up Aceves or Tomko... Hughes will only be called up to make a start in place of 1 of our other starters probably.

I was talking about him starting, no long relief. If Wang continues to pitch like this, then it's going to be an automatic loss every 5 games and every 5 games, we have to waste our bullpen. Maybe we bring Hughes up and show Wang that him starting is not an automatic anymore. Maybe it's time we give Hughes the shot anyway, and see if last year was a fluke.

yeah if Wang struggles again in another start i wouldn't be surprised if they sent him down to Tampa to work out his problems & give Hughes a shot in the rotation.

Not sure why he'd get another start at this point. It's looking like he needs some time in the minors to fully come back from his injury. We have another capable starter, so why not promote Hughes until Wang's 100%?

Premature but it looks like Melky is going to get the starting RF job for awhile. With Nady expiring, this could be Melky's last chance to stick with the team.

It's going to be interesting to see what the Yanks do with their roster spot if Nady goes on IR. They can bring up Hughes to spot start for Wang and/or long relief, bring up a long reliever or call up Austin Jackson. I'm guessing Hughes gets the call

Swish should get plenty of playing time platooning 1B and the outfield. Melky has a very good arm, something that is a big++ in right field and he should also see time in Center. Damon isn't going to play the field every day. One thing, Girardi has plenty of options.

only reasing swish played first was b/c tex hurt his wrist. i think the platoon should be damon + melky in left, with damon + matsui + jorge at the DH spot. swish needs to play every single day and i'd play him in right/left or dh. 1st is all tex.

Update by Mike (2:08 p.m.): Not sure if it means anything, but Austin Jackson was lifted from Triple-A Scranton’s game this afternoon in the third inning. He was hit by a pitch in the second inning, but stayed in the game to run for himself and play another inning in center.

Update by Mike (2:12 p.m.): Kevin Russo was also pulled from the Triple-A game. He might be on his way up to play some third base. If A-Jax is in fact on his way up, he better play every single day. · (135) ·

dice-k just got put on the DL for arm fatigue. dude was in constant trouble last year and got bailed out by some big outs. that ain't happening 2 years in a row. and papi is a player that went from batting in front of manny and taking steroids to a player that no longer bats in front of manny and is not taking steriods.

It would be very cool if Austin Jackson, the Yankees right fielder of the future got the start tomorrow when the yanks play their first game in the new stadium. This kids future might just be right now instead of next season.

i wouldn't call Austin Jackson up just yet... if Nady's out for the year, then just rotate Damon & Melky in OF (Melky in RF when Swish is in LF) w/either Matsui or Damon as the DH... Gardner's bat is beginning to come around so Jackson won't be seeing many AB's if he's called up now... mine as well leave him in AAA so he can get regular playing time until someone else gets injured.

btw, i was sorta lukewarm on the AJB signing but man, that guy has been a God send... hard nosed, no nonsense gamer type... love how he backed up Swish w/that chin music he threw at Evan Longoria... the pitch was well over the plate but good enough to send a message to the Rays' pitchers not to mess w/our guys... LOVED IT!

I haven't posted here much, but I loved the AJB signing then, and love it even more now. Whatever has been said about AJ (injury prone) he's my kind of pitcher. Nasty stuff, hard nose gamer and can rear back and let it fly. Looks like he's become more of a pitcher and definitely is ready for the big stage. This guy could win 20 games for us if he can keep pitching like this all year. Loved the message to Longoria and a big shout out to Swish for knocking that ball out of the park.
