Id almost guess Patrick has reconciled his past and at peace with it. He has succeeded far more then he has not. I know he wanted to coach the Knicks but fell short of credentials to earn that post. No doubt a beloved knick but reality is it could have been a disaster!
While no chip to crown a storied career, or a league MVP he about checked off everything else as a player.

If he is personally satisfied he is no doubt enjoying the brotherhood of being a knick and able to enjoy their current success.
