To be fair, Shaw seems like an amazing assistant coach. You saw what he did for Indiana while he was there and what happened to them last season after he left. Some guys though are just not head coach material but do have utility in other capacities.

They've definitely quit on their coach (which is pretty funny as they wouldn't give him permission to talk to Phil about taking the Knicks job). Afflalo looks awful. Fried looks like mainly hype- I thought people were over reacting to his showing in the International games.

Dragic is another player who seems to have come back down to earth- not sure whether last year was just an exception.

I'd still love to see the Nuggets supporting cast on our team. I think their only two problems are injuries and the fact that they don't have an All-NBA talent to make the triangle work. Their looks in the triangle would improve significantly, next to a guy like Melo who demands so much attention. They can keep Lawson, Faried, Hickson, Harris and Nurkic but I'd taken everyone else on that team including Brian Shaw, who I'd make my head assistant coach. On the flip side, that team would improve Melo as well. Every one of their guys play multiple positions, are extremely lengthy (which helps then be excellent positional defenders) and can consistently hit the 3. They'd hide Melo's deficiencies defensively since Gallo and Chandler are so fluid on defense at either forward spot AND improve Melo's looks in the process as well.

As for Dragic, I was especially skeptical of last season because it was so far and beyond what he's done in the past. Offensively, he was basically Steph Curry after spending nearly a decade in the league as a fringe starter. I love his game and think he'd be a great fit in the triangle but I'm a little weary of signing a 30 year old, flash-in-the-pan PG to the kind of contract that he'll demand. Now that the Suns locked up his brother, I highly doubt he even entertains the thought of leaving.

Noah with a pass you just do not see from Centers. You also do not see a lot of Centers run a break.

This Philly team is like a fraud. They better have HIGH hopes that Joel Embiid is the real deal. Evene though they get a top pick they already have two top 5 bigs and two PG's--? They really need vet help--the NBA should step in and tell the owner to pay some vets for the good of the game.

11/22, knicks better smoke the 76ers. 76ers could be 0 for by that game as well.

we are what we are - a good team built on chemistry and depth. we can beat a lot of bad teams in the regular season b/c of it. but ultimately, to get to that next level, we need to organically improve. our young players need to continue to develop. demar is still 24, ross is 23 and jonas is 22. and this is the first time we are playing with actual expectations. i think we get alot of regular season wins but don't know how that will translate to the postseason which is all about matchups and experience. advancing 1 round should be considered a major success for us. ujiri is still in an evaluation period so he will makes moves if necessary. there are really good signs for us as a team and some worrisome signs. last night we played a superbly coached team - we just aren't good enough to beat teams like that yet. which puts us in the second tier of teams in the league. it's a long season so anything can happen.

dj I enjoy watching your team

It's by far a better product than we have

In the "We Can Win The Atlantic Thread"

There was a statement made by someone suggesting

Your team has peaked, there was even a player by player

Linear comparison your team vs our team with our team coming

Out with the edge on upside, absurd you say////// agreed

The Raps simply had a bad 3rd qrt last night but The Bulls are a huge favorite to win the East

You are right there with them and quite possibly better

If your role players give just a little more, I have you winning 44gms

I think the East overall is better Top to no Philly

Denver can put:

Nate
Moz
Wilson
Gallo

ON the floor at the same time.

Not really into whats going on their but they are trying to get the triangle installed yet again but does the roster fit???
Way too early in their season nor do they have the expirings as do we.

I'd say they lost "the trade" because they seemed to have either squandered their assets and misfortune of Gallo's knee. If he can return to form perhaps still he can still be very effective. What, he's only 25 still. Funny, their insistance of mozgov proved to be a very good Deal!!!

Nalod thinks Knicks got what they Paid for. Melo has proven loyal (to knicks, Money, New York, LaLa). Regarding many who wish he was Durant, Lebron, Jordan or Kobe......Thats not what we paid for.

T.J. Warren earns our Top Assignee of the Night.

T.J. Warren - Bakersfield Jam - Phoenix Suns

Warren was the 14th overall pick in this year's NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns, and while he was successful in summer league and got some time in preseason, he hasn't had the opportunity with the big club just yet, hence, the assignment to the Jam for opening night. Warren has one quantifiable skill coming into the NBA as a rookie; he can flat out score the basketball. He averaged 24.9 points a game last year for NC State while shooting a blistering 52.5 percent as well.

Friday night Warren was the best player on the court for either team. He got his shot whenever he wanted and didn't have to force anything at all. He was able to score on mid-post face-ups, on drives to the basket, and he showed his range by making a few 3-pointers as well. All in all he finished with 40 points, six rebounds and three assists while shooting 16-27 from the field (including three 3-pointers) and 5-5 from the charity stripe. It's going to be tough for the Suns to find Warren minutes with Gerald Green and P.J. Tucker holding down the small forward spot, however Warren is definitely ready to contribute on the offensive end of the court.

Other NBA Assignee Performances:

Justin Holiday (SC Warriors/GS Warriors) -- 26 points, six rebounds and four assists; 9-20 FGs (5-11 from three; 3-5 FT)

Ognjen Kuzmic (SC Warriors/GS Warriors) -- Six points, 14 rebounds and two blocks; 2-8 FGs (2-2 FT)

Eric Moreland (Reno Bighorns/Sacramento Kings) -- 14 points and 14 rebounds; 6-11 FGs (2-5 FT)

Tyler Ennis (Bakersfield Jam/Phoenix Suns) -- 25 points, six rebounds and five assists; 11-23 FGs (1-5 from three; 2-2 FT)

Toure Murry (Idaho Stampede/Utah Jazz) -- Seven points and five rebounds; 2-9 FGs (0-2 from three; 3-4 FT)

Dallas might be proving that "top offense/middle of the pack defense" theory. it's work just fine in the regular season, only make them a tough out in the playoffs.

I love how they are doing it though.....76 points in the paint last night. They arent taking long jumpers all night. Just threes and layups.
