Say What?

monroe bought into the ultimate team culture (and frazier helped him by feeding the hot hand). and monroe has a ring to show for it. in araton's great book when the garden was eden, monroe certainly expressed misgivings but who can argue with a title?
Harvey Araton is one of the best sports journalists ever. The point being, Monroe did change his game to suit Clyde, after he had established being the man in Baltimore.
jr is pretty much the same player but at least he comes cheap.
If you claim JR is the same player under Mike Woodson you did not watch him calmly walk away from a confrontation that would have exploded last season. Jr is different. He is defending with purpose and rebounding the ball. Mr. Smith was the primary ball handler in the second half last night. The trust he is being shown by Woodson (along with a few well-placed jabs) is a huge factor in his development. Besides, the size of his paycheck is irrelevant.
anthony is shooting the 3 at an amazing clip, with as much accuracy as he shoots the 2. he is also in reasonable shape for the first time as a knick (it would have been swell if he was in shape for d'antoni), and maybe for the 3rd time in his entire career. hooray for melo.
Forget focusing on offense, Carmelo has reinvented himself on the defensive end. Reasonable shape? No. Carmelo has better health than last season playing point forward... and playing well for a coach who understands that individuals matter over schemes.
Does Carmelo playing while injured count?
