The ball movement was pretty solid. Melo still should move the ball more, he held it a few times a bit too long especially in the post but he certainly is looking to move it more.

I didn't mind Melo's post ups. I think they were calculated and effective. As long as it's not actually breaking the offense, but is part of the offense and his teammates know where to go when he's going ISO or Posting up. Melo was 10-18 and took 9 free throws. That's a good offensive game.

He had an excellent and efficient games and we NEED those post ups because it causes double teams and mismatches every play. I just want him to move the ball out of it even faster as soon as the double team comes.

I think he's better posting up then he is driving to the basket. I'm actually surprised by how often he gets blocked when driving.

He is better posting up because he has better vision this way of his teammates. He can find the open man or score on his own. When he drives he doesn't have the same vision.

True. However when he drives he gets to the FT line and it will keep the defense honest which will give him more room on his jumper. They are all important. He needs to just make sure that whatever the set is, he does not hold the ball too long and kill the flow.

I was just commenting on what he was better at not, really what was more important. But thats a great point on creating room for his jumper, and probably not just his jumper. If Melo is efficient or not, the pressure put on the D in the various ways he can do it makes the job easier for his teammates.

Yeah I'm OK with the driving. It's when he tries to create his own jump shot off the dribble or when he takes spot-up contested jump-shots that the results are bad.

Agreed.

I am fine with him shooting the J when the defender backs off to respect the drive but do not like when it looks like he is created space for his jumper.

I think that defenses are scared shytless of him but he should not let them off the hook/bail them out by taking the wrong shot.

I thought Melo did a good job attacking mismatches and one on one defenders. It doesn't bother me so much if he creates a jumper but I would rather see him drive to the hoop and post up. I did like his ability to pass out of the double teams to the open shooters and that he's buying into the defensive philosophy of the team.

JR Smith has looked like a combo guard these last couple of games. He'll be really important if he keeps driving to the hoop and playing aggressively.

I really liked seeing Felton attack the rim and I'd like to see more of that from Felton and especially Pablo. There were times the guy had legit layup opportunities but threw a bad pass instead. He should look for his shot sometimes. More pick and roll would help with this with Tyson and or Melo and a point guard.

Offensively things got a bit sloppy tonight with the forced alley-oops, but I can live with that in exchange for the energy on D.

Absolutely! He forced a few shots yesterday but overall I think it was an efficient game for the Melo man.
