MDA failed.
Woodson is achieving by lowering the standard.
Is one better than the other?
Yeah, winning is better!
Are we true contenders?
We can argue it all day long, but we need only tune in and see for ourselves!
Having stars playing like stars is "lowering the standard"? And who's standard is that?
Champion contention.
Do you think this team is a true contender?
Forget the potential of everyone and Injury. Just with what it is right now.
Next year we will have players improving and some that might not be back. We don't even know
Again, MDA tried to make a super team by having his star players be in roles. If you can do that I really thing we had the talent to win a championship.
But stars won't have any of that. So basically the end result was MDA failed. We had no PG and MDA wanted Melo to play a role as point forward. Did not work. The spacing problem with our front line was problematic.
Linsanity without Melo and Amare proved the system can work when your players all buy in. Im not saying they were contenders but the sum of the parts were greater than the individual pieces.
When you bring back in two all star players the sum did not add up. If you can get them too adapt it could have. Melo could not do this. May have been silly to even try.
So my point is if you can get the very talented pieces to add up to a greater sum, you can have a very special championship run. This I think is what Larry Brown did in Detroit to beat the Lakers. This is what Dallas did last year.
I believe this is what made PHil Jax win 11 rings in 20 years with many differnt pieces.
This is what MDA failed to do. Its what Riley failed to do in NY and Miami with Mourning. What Adelman failed to do in Sacremento and POrtland. What Karl Failed to do in Seattle. These coaches had great talant but the sum would not exceed the individual pieces. They were contenders and very very good teams that were successful.
At this point Melo is playing great individual ball but I don't think the team can sustain this and win a championship.
Thats the standard. Or at least that is my standard.
So in my estimation we are not contenders. Im not saying we have to win a chip to validate the team, but a trip to conference finals would show a lot.
True contention is my standard.
To win a championship you have to cross some hurdles. We are in progress but not there yet.
I think we are playing more like a 3-4-5 seeds if were had this all season.
