see: memphis for the importance of a bench!!!!
their 9 man rotation is NICE: conley/allen/sam young/zbo/gasol with battier, mayo, vasquez, and arthur off the bench.
this team is without their best player (gay) and yet they just worked the spurs with defense, toughness, and hustle. great effort all around. nice to see.
Tony Allen left Boston and they didnt skip a beat. He is a solid role player at best.
The core of that Memphis team is Randolph, Gay, Gasol, and Conley. Everyone else is interchangeable.
LOL they didn't skip a beat???? they traded their starting C perkins to get jeff green to guard 2/3s and make up for the loss of allen. that guy was a huge part of their success coming off the bench and boston really F-ed up not bringing him back.
gay hasn't even played in this series, which forces the question of how integral he really is. battier and allen have been instrumental in getting them to focus on D and approach the playoffs seriously. randolph is their best player, no doubt, but the reason they beat the spurs was because they went 9 deep and were playing ferocious D, in part b/c everyone was on the same page and playing hard after they got allen and battier.
i wonder if allen would even play for MDA? can't hit the corner 3.
