Nalod - that is where you are not only wrong, you are DEAD WRONG.
The intention of such "behavior"... rather enforcement... is to maintain the superiority of one group of people over another. The intentions are as clear as using Blackface images to sell detergent or pancakes. "Nappy headed hoes" is simply an extension of "ignorant savages" ... who deserve to be kept as slaves... and always treated as such.
Was/is The Klan just a harmless group of fraternity boys having some good, clean fun?
you think Rush Limbaugh lacks a mean-spirited agenda?
wake up

OK, Ill go real slow for you.
I told a story of a coworker who said something stupid that her daddy always said. She did not think it was a bad thing. It was learned behavior. If I said racial statements in my house as my kids were young they would too think it was ok to say such things until they got in trouble at school or hit in the mouth. Get it? So out of ignorance or learned behavior racism is promoted.
Now say this child who hears these things at home listens rap music and watches rap videos. Not all rapper portray women as hoes and bitches, but there a lot. Now he thinks, Hmmmm, this is pretty common verbage. Get it?
YOur little story about your daughters friends getting called "wigger". The little boy was left crying. Why? He was educated and learned that his comment was hurtful. Lesson: he now knows this is not acceptable comments and is hurtful. Ignorance cured! This was your story, not mine.
Now either reread my comments or take it from me that being very much out of context in your comments.
I also think that Imus's response is fair. Before you go off on that I say that because up until now NOBODY HAS JUMPED ON HIS ASS ABOUT THE 100 STUPID THINGS HE HAS SAID BEFORE! AND IF THE BLACK COMMUNITY ALLOWS MANY IN THERE OWN COMMUNITY TO GET AWAY WITH IT THEN IT BECOMES COMMON LANGUAGE REGARDLESS OF HOW HURTFUL IT IS. IS IT ONLY UNACCEPTABLE WHEN A WHITE GUY SAYS IT?
Oprah tried to get the black community to clean up its language and rappers were jumping all over her and nobody stood by her. where was The Rev Al? Jesse? Not good enough for Al's ratings on HIS show? They called Oprah out cuz she does not have "rappers" on her show and should because she is black.
So my point about ignorance is that if certain strains of society think its ok, and you grow up with it, until other noted or corrected, then its tolerated! Thats not my rule or feeling about it, its an observation.
As far as the Klan and any comparisons, the Klan is a hate group that is commited. But if your daddy was in the klan, and his daddy was in the Klan, and you digetsted all the proganda as a child and had no black people in your life, then that form of ignorance would be the norm for you. You would spout out all kinds of racist things and not know you were hurtful.
Get it. Nalod is not a racist. Mister Just likes to jump to conclusions and get excited.
What cracks me up is all of a sudden after years of making idiot racist remarks all of a sudden Imus is now important! He is on MSNBC cuz nobody watches it.
Now that its an issue no one can condone his remark and be left legit, so its pile on Imus time. No gray area here for the media to punce on.
Nalods take (and I'll go slow again): THis should have not been tolerated a long time ago. Nobody black or white should be calling women "B!tches" and think its not damaging.
Question, if Imus said the Rutgers girls looked like plain "Street hookers" would that have been racist? Or Sexist? Would it have been aceptable? Lets face it, Street hookers black, white, asian, hispanic have a stereotype of being pretty nasty looking. I think it would have been insulting to the Rutgers girls but not racist. Im not saying that is cool by anymeans, but the fact that Imus used some words poplular with black commedians and Rap artists as a white man then it becomes a racist statement. I think it time we stop insulting as an acceptable course of everyday language.
If we stop listening to insults as entertainment, then can all hear whats good in this world.
