Wow!!
And I thought I had a hard day BEFORE i read this thread!
All right, skimmed.

Man everyday something happens to confirm all your suspicions that the world is indeed a crazy place.
Like the Knicks using the Allen Houston rule . . . NOT on Allen Houston.
That's like if the Celtics had used their Bird rights.. . NOT on Larry Bird.
OK, so we still don't know whether AH is retiring, if this was all Dolan's doing, Isiah thunk it up all on his own, whatever.
For me, it boils down to this - the glory of Isiah with this franchise will NEVER be about working the numbers. That is no way no how his thing.
Reminds me of when Bird became GM of Indy he said something along the lines of, "I don't understand the cap. And I don't plan to."
Isiah is not gonna resurrect this franchise through any shrewd maneuvering of the numbers. And chief Ennabler Dolan is gonna keep feeding the spending habit anyway.
But Isiah WILL continue to do it with the crazy switching out of old for new. Personally I recognize all that JYD brings to the plate, but I'm not crying at all about his departure. Nor would I have cried about Malik's or Mo's. Or Penny's, Allan's or Shandon's contract.
Isiah's value is in his ballsiness. His aggressive instincts. The fact that he's gonna throw Nate Freakin' Robinson out there for us. Along with all the other young and FAST legs that he replaced the tired old legs with. A year and a half later and we're looking at Reezy, Marbury, Q, Craw, Frye, Lee, Nate, etc. instead of what Isiah inherited???? AND they're going to be coached by arguably the best coach in the league?????
THAT'S what I'm continuing to celebrate. And eveybody who's talking about the need to work the cap smartly and maximize flexibility is correct. But that's not Isiah's strength at all IMO. And that is not what's going to be open to be celebrated while he's here.
Will it work? We shall see. The one thing I know is that it's light years ahead of where we were when he came on the scene. Again IMO.
So I'm still drinking off the K-Aid - the loss of JYD doesn't affect that at all. The decision to not use the Houston rule ON Houston doesn't either. Isiah's potential legacy for this franchise will NEVER be about working the numbers. He's gonna do it with balls-out dealing for young talent.
