You are comparing a billionaire dealing with someone doing their corruption on a national level. Trumps dealings didn't effect me but what Hillary does and did effects everyone. Our government was suppose to have a checks and balance system. But the way around the corruption is by everyone being on the same page and being in cahoots with each other. It became so lucrative on every level that corruption became rampant and a norm which is widely accepted as the nature of the beast.
It is not about who deserves it or who can have the job done but about who is still acceptable after all crimes he/she committed.

We can discuss the power the position of US President actually holds... but we also acknowledge that there is a symbolic power to the role of Head of State — our replacement for a monarch.

As I argued 100+ pages ago, with the symbolic part of the job, the Obama family has been quite powerful for minorities — especially African-Americans. We should not discount this.

Have to agree on this with you.
The symbolism is a powerful thing.
In some ways it is more powerful that practical change and even practical change can be sacrificed to bring symbolic values.
I think electing woman, gay, Jewish, Asian, or Native American presidents will be great as well.
Hillary is woman so she can serve some purpose. Trump is useless in this respect...
May be can serve as redneck president... but he is technically not redneck..
In general this is very esoteric thing for me to be overly concern about.
