OG's gotta play within himself, these drives where he is constantly getting stripped at the rim are Randle-esque.

And Hart's gotta be more careful with the ball.

TO's almost killed us this game and gave IND a sliver of hope.

Bum knee, clutch shooting, strong physical play! He earned his Knick badge.
I was wrong about him.

Brunson got us off to great start.
Captain he is.

Both showed they should untouchable.

I honestly wonder if losing 10-15lbs wouldn't help KAT defensively a bit.

Isnt it mostly mental? Its either blowing the assignment or some stupid touch foul. Feels like when he is in the right place and focused he does a pretty fair job. Obviously gonna be tough to defend every guard laterally, but I feel like he has done some credible things when switching and not backtracking into drop in terms of stating in front.

KAT and Brunson are one of three duos to each score 20 points in first 5 games of conference finals.
The other two, Kobe and Shaq. And West and Baylor.
Rose got it right. Again!

Yea but he actually did well on them last night I thought. Got to the line a few times, put back his own miss twice, had a dunk or 2. We kind of need him to take Nembhard down low who can’t guard him down there since Mikal won’t bully Haliburton. One of those guys needs to take advantage of the smaller guy on them and make them pay.

His weight is fine. Look at his feet. They’re huge.

The simple and immediate change is he needs to pull his hands back. He will get beat from time to time but he should focus on consistent effort and avoid (truly) dumb fouls

In the future we need to develop a way to hide his weaknesses better. It’s unrealistic to think players will be flawless. Coaches need to leverage strengths and hide weaknesses. It can be done. See Denver. See Boston

Goal needs to be net positive. And if he’s killing the opponent on offense

Fwiw he has been effective on siakam

Last night we outrebounded them and fewer turnovers than they had

Yielded a dozen more shots than they had. That’s our formula.

We can clean up our turnovers better (Josh hope you’re reading this) but the turnover delta was really because we truly forced more. (Feel a lot of ours are unforced lack of focus)

We didn’t shoot well from FT line. Which will improve

Stick our knitting on defense and get up on them, particularly Tyrese. No stupid fouls. Feed KAT often

Would like to see us opportuntically run more w Hart going coast to coast

We actually shot horrible from 3 outside of Brunson. The rest of the team was 4-22. So that bodes well as we should expect that to improve.

Foul trouble is a very fragile game. Towns could literally just cut back on one completely unnecessary boneheaded foul per game and that would work wonders. He has at least a foul per game, usually 2, that have nothing to do with his slow feet or any physical attribute. Just yanking someones arm, throwing an elbow up top, sticking hit butt out way too far on a screen. Just cut out 1 silly one and voila you are no longer in foul trouble. Thibs drilled this into Mitch's head hopefully he can do the same with Towns next year and beyond.

Still trying to understand Kevin Love getting involved, unless he's JR's plus one.

Love was sitting like 3 rows deep, definitely wasn't gifted Knicks alumni tix. I saw him in the stands. It's actually funny watching celebs and others have to sit 2nd and 3rd row because the ticket is so hot right now. Looks like they also opened up a suite for B level celebs because I saw a bunch of images on socials of celebs sitting in the 200s level.

Love has always lived in NYC during the offseason.

this game was how the series was supposed to go. Knicks are bigger, wear them down and force Indy to deal win individual match ups they were going to lose like KAT/Brunson/Bridges on smaller guys.

agreed and good point. Our formula though is to get more shots than the other team. Usually we accomplish this from rebounding advantage. But we have been coughing that up with silly turnovers. Silly turnovers might be hurting us more than silly fouls. And silly everything needs to be tightened up if we're going to win this

(I know you know all of the above; I just like repeating myself unfortunately. )

agree 100% and I am hoping I am right in reading his reaction to Barkley's direct criticism. I think he will clean that up at least for now

My main point is the issue isn't his weight; it's his feet. It's tough to be agile when you're feet are that huge

I've said it many times during this playoff run but I'm again so proud of this team! And I urge everyone to appreciate them! Maybe it won't end with a happy ending but these guys deserve a standing ovation and their flowers for this season!

It started with the defense from the jump! The ball pressure and overall effort and attention to detail was so much better than in game four. Remember Indiana scored 43 in that first quarter of game four and 130 total. And last night they scored 94 total! It's no coincidence! The effort was night and day! Thibs deserves credit here cause it looked and seemed different. And if we want to shock the world and take this to a game seven on Monday night, we will need the same effort defensively tomorrow. Maybe even more.

Loved how serious JB started this game! Thought he was on his way to a 50 but he had a lot of help from his co-star. But JB needs to play at this level the rest of the series. Simply cannot have an off game. It's a lot to ask a player to be almost perfect but that's where we are. Same with KAT! Good to see that knee gave him no issues! Missed open threes but he was a bully in the paint and on the glass and his defensive effort was a lot better! I especially loved that set play early in the game where JB had a double screen and swung the ball and found KAT for a three! Not sure why we do not run stuff like that more often.

The supporting cast was also a lot better! So happy for Mitch! Loved that he's healthy and able to play like this in the ECF! That stint where he blocked Haliburton, who played scared, caused Turner to have a turnover and had that putback was huge! Hats off to Shamet! About freaking time someone pressured the ball and got into the face of Haliburton and McConnell! I know it won't happen but I'd limit Mikal's minutes, especially if he's not playing well, and increase Shamet. He also hit a big long two in the fourth which broke the Hicks momentum of a comeback. Precious with a huge And1 in limited minutes too. Loved that hard foul by Deuce on Siakim to prevent a layup. Flagrant or not, I do not mind that! Have to send a message that no layup's are allowed! Wright played his usual hardnosed defense but couldn't buy a hoop.

Weird game by Hart. The turnovers are infuriating! But you can see why Thibs is loyal to him. He's our heart and soul and he needs to be out there. His hustle and ability to grab all the big rebounds. He had a good fourth quarter. The whole team did. I'm not going to lie I got a little nervous there in the fourth but I loved how the team made sure there would be no comeback. Still got a lot of work to do! Indiana will come out angry tomorrow! They do not want to come back here for a game seven! We need to be ready!

WE ARE STILL ALIVE AND I STILL BELIEVE! KNICKS IN 7!!!!!!!
