If the front office knew how close we were to winning this yr, I doubt they give up Obi for 2 2nds. But, how could they have known? So, therefore, they got value instead of nothing. I don't fault them. This move just got exposed by the injuries.

I see it as the team trading Obi for DDV, in a roundabout way. I doubt things change, even knowing what we know.

Lack of power forward depth was exposed against Indiana bc Bogey was out. He would have been a playable PF that allowed better spacing.

Which of the following statements are not true

-Bogey is a wing not a PF

-35 y.o. Players are very durable and rarely get injured.

Anyone not think this team could use Obi Toppin's depth off the bench right now?

I thought we could've used his offense off the bench when he was here. But Thibs wasn't feeling him, so I moved on.

If we needed someone off the bench we would’ve never drafted him 8th overall. He was drafted to start, Randle’s replacement. Now he’s in a perfect role with Indy with low expectations coming off the bench.

He is making 15mm per year. We can't afford him in the apron world. He probably needed to go, but the thing that stunk was hardly getting anything back for a decent player.

Julius at 40 and Toppin at 15, DDV at 10 = 65MM
KAT at 60MM

Obi was a nice spark, the trade to Indy was always a bad ideas because it was the perfect spot and to someone we likely would have had to face. The return was minimal so we shouldn’t have been in a rush.

Thibs just unable to adjust. The talent Leon has brought in has been outstanding, rotations just aren’t Thibs strong suite

We went over this already. He doesn't defend, He doesn't rebound. We had Randle at PF at the time and couldn't pay him to be a bench warmer. Sure he looks nice next to Haliburton. Off the bench. For this team he could have been a nice option off the bench. If we could rebound and run off of those rebounds. But we don't and we cannot. So he needed to go, unfortunately.
