If Melo is going to play this style, it doesn't look like Amare is going to be a good fit.
He doesn't seem to like physical contact, does not put a body on his man, and does not fight for position on both ends.
Rather he would give up position and JUMP for the ball if it comes his way. He not only gives up position easily for rebound on both ends but is unwilling
to guard a shooter that is his assignment as well.
We need skilled players, not 1 way players that are limited. Most players signed from min deals however, are either limited on skills or by age.
Orlando has 4 shooters in their starting lineup all capable of hitting the 3pointer, with 2 players that can post up. With good spacing, good cuts, the ability to stretch
the floor, and ball movement they can be tough the defend.
Turkeglu is not a bum, he is a good 3rd option, that has an all around game. He plays the point/forward, sometimes at the PF sometimes at the SF.
He can post up, take you off the trouble, shoot, and penetrate. Ryan Anderson, plays outside - in, at PF/C. He is a good rebounder, makes good cuts, and
most PF or Centers can not guard him from the 3pointer, if they attempt to, he is capable of blowing pass his man. Even if he doesn't, he opens up the lanes for guard to penetrate.
He has decent speed but generally the 3point shot opens things up for him and the team. With a Dwight Howard and Ryan Anderson as your center/pf, the opponents can not
help, as their hands are full.
This year Jameer Nelson, is playing the facilitator role more, instead of being more of a scorer in the past. He uses quickness, picks, and is pretty strong for his size.
He is capable of penetrating, hitting the 3, can create his own shot, and can earn a step for his team. When the 3 point shot falls for them, Magic is hard to stop.
JJ Redick, isn't just a spot up shooter anymore, he isn't great in penetrating but has greatly improved.
I don't really mind the way we lost this game, I think we played much better on both ends. There just isn't much we can do when they are shooting 3pointers and shots like that.
JJ tried to defend Anderson as best as he could but he was on fire. He is much improved this year and he was just on fire today and for much of the year.
Turkeglu, Redick, and Jameer Nelson also hit a couple of timely shots. We came out to play this game and the score doesn't resemble the game.
It hurts us badly when Melo goes out, as we have no post presence to generate our offense. Without a PG, Amare is no longer capable of generating offense.
TD looks much more comfortable as penetrated today, although Redick and Jameer Nelson aren't great defenders. JJ loo
We lack skilled players, period. We need penetration with speed and quickness coming from our SG and PG, to go with better shooting, especially at PF, when Chandler is in.
