I wasn't sold on him last year and thought we should have traded him when his value was high. Reality is he is a second round draft pick - sure he started off strong but his drop off is more in line with what you would expect from a second rounder. I do think he has talent, but I am concerned he is just a role player and this club needs a starter.
I hope he snaps out of it, but he said all he worked on this summer was his mental game and it sounds like that may not have paid off. He needs to work on his bball game.
I have to disagree. I don't really judge players based on where they were picked. Fields played better than 28 other first round draft picks last year and I have no reason to write him off. He is not a shooting guard, he has a better game close to the basket than from outside the arc. He can be effective off the ball as well as being a decent defender. I would definitely look for him to improve once he gets some confidence in the flow of things. I think playing next to Melo is making him uncomfortable.
I agree low. Its way too soon to write him off. I like that he added some muscle. I do see a bit of improvement offensively. I thought he did well defensively although he was scored on. He rebounded well too. His biggest weakness, in my opinion, is his confidence. He needs to let the game flow and not think too much. I think he should come off the bench but not because he is digressing, but because he can't seem to get into the flow of thinks when he is in the game with Melo. I think he'll be okay. I think Toney is the one to be concerned about.
