Next.. this officiating was horrible.... to let dwight howard sit there and play a college zone all game is a joke..

Amare played a great game.. didn't shoot much, but shot 6-10 and 8-10 from the FT line, he defended better, hit the boards and most of all didn't force the issue.. still finished with 20/9

TD: hit some big shots, didn't shoot well, but played under control..

Billups played better and hit some big shots..

Melo: 39 points and 10 boards... yea, we know he can do that.. but his defense and intensity on both ends from start to finish set the tone.. if he can do this every night, we will be competitive.... yes we still have holes, but a good effort goes a long way.. monster game...

Shelden williams: Unsung hero.. his defense and key plays helped us get this win..

I think the knicks still doubled too much and the threes down the stretch were ridiculous.. almost cost us... we also rebounded.. 43 boards to the magic 44.. that was key, only 9 off rebounds for the magic.. limited the second shots..

much needed win.. we still need to pick up the pace, get amare more involved, but I will take the win.. about time..

Definitely need to get Amare more invloved but our pick and roll is nonexistent now. Seems like Billups doesn't run it at all.

TD is great off the bench, but this team needs a burner at PG who can defend and see the floor. that will benefit amare the most..

get a SG who can create

get a center...

billups is a nice player, but I can even see him on a team like the lakers, running a slower paced offense..

Agreed with the bolded part. I was talking to a friend of mine while watching the game and told him that we need a playmaker at the point. A playmaking pg who can break a play, get into the lane draw the D and get some easy shots for Stat and Melo where they dont have to fight for their own shots all the time.

Also agree about the center and sg. Although, depending on the type of pg we get (if we get a scroing pg like a Kemba Walker), Feilds can play a Doug Cristie like role for us.

i like brandon knight as that kind of point guard a lot. i hope they can get him in the draft.

Yeah he has great speed and can shoot the 3. Not sure about his finishing skills..that's important too. How many layups did Felton get in this offense. Billups or Douglas rarely finishes at rim. Billups is a good player in his own right but the threat at the rim is not there.

We're definitely pipe-dreaming here. Knight nor Walker will be available when we pick. I bet Fredette will still be on the board, then the team that picks before us will snacth him up even though they wont even need a pg.

Why? Is Nellie or Kahn picking before us?

Someone mentioned that we need a 3rd scorer. While that would be nice, I think we have enough scorers. To be honest, we've been shooting the ball TERRIBLY lately. Even wide open shots. And STAT has not been himself. So unless TD, Williams and Fields aren't the shooters they've shown they can be all year along I think our offense will be fine. We are jsut in a bad rut shooting right now. We saw signs tonight but we still didn't shoot well. Milwaukee, Charlotte....those teams were hitting EVERYTHING against us. The 9/10 before this were a perfect storm of horrible defense, hot teams, and a team struggling to find it's flow.

Hopefully tonight can be the start to being a respectable team that people don't want to see in the playoffs. i jsut want to be proud of the effort like I was tonight. Let's beat the shyt out of the Nets on Wednesday with STAT in street clothes.

Missed the game again but talked to some old timer Knicks fans on the crosstown bus who just got out of the Garden. So great to see happy (relieved) Knicks fans in the streets! Wish I saw it.

Hopefully they know they won because of defense and bring that to the Nets on Wednesdays. A game like this is why I still feel the Knicks are a dangerous team in the playoffs..because Melo & Amare will play hard on defense in the playoffs.

This was a great win and a badly needed win. I hope all of the Knicks go home tonight and tomorrow and stay out of the clubs. LOL no drinking booze tonight and tomorrow. Get plenty of rest for Wed night. Do not underestimate the Nets.

The playoffs is a different animal. You know that it's a sprint and not a marathon and players can go hard knowing there are no back to backs. Also you can really focus in on your opponent. I think even with this team not really clicking on all cylinders that in the playoffs they can be dangerous and a tough out. It's all up to the players to give a true effort on D and play together and unselfish.

One thing I did like was the recognition by the team that Melo was the go to guy. They kept feeding him and it paid off. It seems like they didn't do that in previous games.

Good point..Melo is the go to guy but Amare is a great 1B option..so hopefully Melo looks at film and sees that he had a couple of opportunities to pass to a wide open Amare under the rim. It will all work out in the long run.

On the broadcast it seemed to be common knowledge that D' gave an "impassioned speech" before the game. Was there any mention of what he said?

Reason I ask is, in the post game Melo said something like "We threw out the X's and O's and just played hard."

I wonder if that was D's speech: "Forget the damn plays, just play your asses off."

Wouldn't be a bad speech, IMO.

Great win tonight and it was nice to see Shelden Williams play significant minutes.

We need a third scorer. You can't depend on Melo and Amare to score 50 every night. And even so, that is a points to depend on out of guys rest of the guys.
I think Devin Harris would be a good fit here.

Breen mentioned it during the game. Something to the effect of "Let's draw a lind in the sand...."

They said it was a loud speech, fire and brimstone type. He really called out the team.

Yup. I loved how he stood up to Dwight. He was our Thing to the Magic's superman. He bodied Dwight and made him miss some shots. That is really all you can do with Dwight. He was called for some dubious calls too. Dwight swinging the ball to Shelden's face and Shelden fouling Dwight's hand with his face was funny.

Let's hope more people get called out for not performing up to the standard of why we brought them here, if they can't perform like yesterday. I mean everyone
