tkf wrote:Wow, I am happy to be doing one of these for a win vs the heat... In a game in which wade looked like he couldn't miss, I said, that is ok, as long as wade is still shooting and lebron is cold, we can win this one.. it is more important for lebron to be cold... well wade cooled off and lebron continued building houses.. Knicks hung in there and got the win..

Knicks got outrebounded 49-45, not bad, but we had 24 assists, to the heat 13.. that was huge, the heat was playing a lot of one on one ball. .lebron 7-24 from the field.. ouch..

Keys:

Amare: For me, this was a great game... with the knicks struggling, he didn't force the issue, instead he made plays. Keeping the ball alive on the board, contesting shots, and making passes.. None bigger than assist #4 to fields.. a nice quick kickout/touch pass for a three that put us up 5. A star performance from amare.. He scored when we needed and made the plays that we needed... 24/8/4 for amare.

Felton: shot 1-6 from the floor, for 6/7/3/2 steals.. didn't force shots but kept the ball moving on offense, that was key.. put the game away with huge clutch FT's.. that is what I look for from my PG... if your shot is not falling, control tempo, make winning plays..

Gallo: was cold shooting the ball at times, but not when it counted most.. got hot in the 4th.. nice driving layup with the left hand and then 2 huge threes... he also had a nice assist to fields for a three, made winning plays.. 20/4/2 dimes for gallo, also did a great job getting to the line when his shot was not falling... his defense on lebron was good as well.. gallo showed why teams dont' leave him open even if his shot isn't falling...

Fields: Are you kidding me? 19/13/6 on 6-11 shooting... say what? what a game.. He was all over the place, the heat just didn't have anyone else to match his energy. hit big threes, got big rebounds, just did a bit of everything. Best game of his career probably, maybe he is ready to break through that rookie wall... Turned it up a notch tonight..

Chandler: struggled again tonight, and one thing I will say is that chandler needs to find a move a flop, call it waht you want, but some way to get cheap points , get to the line, something to break the negative momentum.. finished with 7/4 boards on 3-14 shooting.. with that said, chandler never stopped competing. hate to see him struggle, but then again, maybe it was just one of those games.. the heat play good defense..

TD: I like how he is competing.. 1-6 from the floor, but he had 5/4/3/2 steals... yea, his shot is off, but he is out there contributing in other ways..

Turiaf: 1/3 boards, really not effective tonight..

Walker: only played 4 minutes.. looks like he might be falling out of the rotation a bit with the emergence of williams.

Williams: 4-11, 11/6 boards.. I love the way he is attacking the boards and his defense on lebron was fantastic at times. He is making that extra effort on the boards, with his defense, and attacking the basket with gusto... Heis playing himself into key minutes. I like what I am seeing..

overal, gutsy win. One thing I want to mention. I don't like how this game was officiated. seemed like the refs tried to find ways to get the heat extra posessions. And this lebron and wade bull rush to the basket, with their heads down, and out of control is a joke, Honestly they can do that everytime and get fouls called in their favor.. not the way the game should be played..

SOTN: James jones.. All this clown does is shoot threes.. 216 shot attempts this year and 186 have been from three.. LOL. tonight.. 5-8 from the field.. all three pointers... You think the knicks would have caught on?

Great win..

24-21

I will be at the game tomorrow night in Atlanta..

I'm in Atlanta also and might be catching the game with my brother. Hopefully they are not too tired tomorrow. And great call on the Lebron/Wade bullrush to the rim. How is it their move is a foul and when Amare does it "no call". It's so obvious. Rather it be a no call across the board.

MVPs of the game:

Danilo Gallinari - struggled shooting but made the big shots down the stretch & was aggressive taking the ball to the hole
Shawne Williams - played EXCELLENT defense on Lebron all game long, i thought he really made a huge impact
Landry Fields - key rebounding all game long, gave us some huge second chance opportunities

Near Goats of the game:

Toney Douglas - i appreciate his energy but WTF is he doing out there? i swear the decisions he makes are mindboggling sometimes... he's just way out of control, just like Nate used to play only w/o the posing nonsense... TD means well & he's busting his ass out there but he's gotta learn how to make better decisions w/the ball when it's in his hands... also needs to be aware of the damn shotclock.

MDA - the live by the 3, die by the 3 strategy is so hit or miss, we're lucky guys finally started hitting their shots in the 4th quarter... IMO the energy & fastbreak got us back into the game, & then the shots started to fall... i really wish they wouldn't be so 3 ball reliant throughout the course of the game, particularly when those shots aren't falling... we really need to establish the PnR better than we've been doing of late... i thought the team did a nice job of getting the ball to Amare in motion early in the game but they went away from it later on & started chucking up 3's & never could get back to their bread & butter... good thing Gallo got hot otherwise this is another loss.

Add Wilson Chandler to the GOAT list..don't mind the missed shots but the tentative play hurts. He is too big to be avoiding contact when he drives. He looked scared out there. Didn't he get Amare's memo?

i agree he did look tentative out there... he could have finished off his drives a lot better tonight... good thing Landry was all over the place tonight we didn't notice Wilson's absence as much... at least MDA had the good sense to play the guys who were playing w/the most energy down the stretch... i thought taking out TD & replacing him w/Felton late in the 4th quarter really helped us settle down too... the game was about to get away from us at that point.

MDA probably had his best performance tonight as a coach. Timely timeouts. Great substitutions. Usually he sits Fields way too long and doesn't leave Williams out there long enough. Glad he broke normal tendencies tonite.

i will agree w/u on those points, but on the other side of the coin the 3 ball offense almost cost us the game... it wasn't until the team started to go to more fastbreak style play that we took over the tempo of the game & started dictating to the Heat rather than the other way around... i give MDA credit for making the adjustment but we were still taking way too many 3's & missing them tonight... the defensive intensity was great though, so i gotta give the coach credit for keeping his guys focused on that aspect of the game... not too often we can say that.

This was a great game great win. Even though the balls were not falling the Knicks kept up their defense. We still must get Carmelo and a Center who can rebound and defend. D Wade always gets the calls from the refs so if he drives to the basket make him feel the foul by knocking him on his butt. We will get called for the foul anyway so make Wade feel the pain.

Great Win.

I agree, even with ray having a awful game(we rearly win when that happens) MDA really had a good game plan tonight

I am fine with a no call across the board as well, I mean there are ways to create legit contact.. gallo does it, amare, pierce, etc.. but this run full speed, losing the ball, spinning and running over guys and getting the call is a damn joke.. lebron and wade are great at that..

GREAT win! I was upset with the Refs and the Knicks missing so many shots, but the DEFENSE... That was some great D they played tonight. Williams was amazing on Lebron. He really took Lebron out of his comfort level. The only thing I was worried about is when Lebron goes into his full court bullrush move. You have to pick him up full court and either slow him down or make him give up the ball. Once he gets a head of steam he's gonna draw the foul everytime. Otherwise very good game. Loved Fields and Gallo tonight. Amar'e was moving the ball excellently. We won even tho it wasn't one of our best overall performances.

What gets me upset is that Wade/James seem to have a sense of entitlement, and will make the type of players you guys are talking about knowing that they are going to get the call.

You look at the play where James leveled Felton with an elbow- James was stunned that a call like that went against him.

I wish there was a way to measure the borderline calls (fouls or other infractions) which could have gone either way. It would be interesting to see how many such calls went in favor of James and Wade.

I'm also sure that Google Images got an increase in Palin searches yesterday night as male fans were inspired.

I don't mind the head down drive into the lane to draw fouls (not!), but what gets me is the amount of traveling Lebron and Wade do that never gets called.

That was a great win, especially considering they had a bad shooting night. Fields is the real deal. He'll only get better. Don't trade him.

Add Felton's game management to that list. Felton did not force things last night. Ball movement is a great thing.

Raymond Felton needs to be more aggressive offensively when we play Miami. Mario Chalmers, Carlos Arroyo and Eddie House are terrible.
